Welcome and we hope you'll enjoy Home Design 3D! :)
At this point, you can export (using the Share icon in the top right corner):
- your project (it's a .hd3d file you can open on another computer and even your phone or tablet if you have purchased Home Design 3D on this device)
- screenshots (in 2D/3D without the interface) on our Online Gallery to share with our community and compete to be the Best Designer of the Week every Friday >>> {LINK REMOVED}https://en.homedesign3d.net/gallery
- screenshots on Steam Community Hub (in 2D/3D without the interface) or you can chose to save them on your computer
- your blueprint/2D Floorplan that you can directly print via your local printer
Feel free to ask if you have any other questions :)
Of you don't mind, another question: do you plan if a near future to give users more "freedom" when it comes to "sharing" and "exporting"/"importing"?
You are probably talking about us adding the Steam workshop in Home Design 3D. We may be adding this but not in a near future (so you are prepared). We are even thinking of the possibility to export a project as an .obj file but not for now.
We have other priorities for the moment (now we are debugging our update with the Floor Feature on all our platforms as we are also an app on iOS, Android...) and working these may require months/years of development as loads of things would need to be adjusted to fit our PC version of Home Design 3D.
Anyway, thank you for your interest and understanding. Be sure that if we add more export/import options, we will announce it :)
Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately, only after him spending those many many hours maticulously building this house we learned that there are no export options. Both myself and my kid are heartbroken. You see - the whole point of building this house was to 3D print it and also explore it in VR. Neither of which we are able to do and all the effort is almost completely wasted.
Hopefully my kid won't be discouraged and will move to a more full-featured cad with equal enthusiasm, but for all the other buyers not to experience the same - I would make a bold bullet somewhere on the product page that IT OFFERS NO 3D EXPORT!
time has passed sense I commented on this post and I have found the software that has an export feature as well as many other options. the software is called Sweet Home 3d. it can export as obj with mtl textures that work well in maya the interface is simple and its quite inexpeisve to own. I think I got mine for like under 50$. it also comes with free models to use in your house. I also bought mine through amazon so I have it attached to my account
The no export feature of Home Design 3Dis a deal breaker for me. Thanks for suggesting Sweet Home 3D. Will take a look at it.
