How do I turn off snap-to ?

Am trying to add a door, but it keeps jumping to another wall. My house has a 16x25 playroom in the back. The back door is set in so that the bottom of the steps is even with the outside wall. Trying to add that is quite difficult, it won't let me put in a door where it needs to go.

Can I turn off snap-to so that I can put the door where I want it to go?

I am not sure to understand correctly your problem, maybe a screenshot can help us to understand what you want to do. Doors can be put only in walls, if your wall is no larger enough, you may have to reduce the door width before (when it is on an other wall that accept it).

Else there is a snap option in the main bar, it is the U magnetic icon, but it will not completely remove the snap for openings.
