Awesome game. Some recommendations for new players
The amount of anxiety when starting this game is high. I ran around for 30 minutes hyperventilating lol. Not sure what to do. I recommend sort all the white books first. Most of them belong in 2J. Once you do that and get some rows filled, you can start increasing your abilities. Would recommend 5, 2, 4 then 1. Ability 3 seems super pointless once you get enough points into 5. For those of you who love to jump and run, like me, I recommend finding the keys quick, because they will unlock run and jump.

hmn not at all, actually the opposite. I would recommend doing the first run as chill as possible, without using ANY major magic. Just chilling and enjoying the vibe. That way you'll have fun in the most fun way for this game and you'll get the "finish without using major magic" achievement out of the way which will be a pain if you get used to the magic doing everything for you. Also, considering the subsequent runs will have to be fast, there is an "finish under 3 hours" achievement, so then you'll be using magic while already being familiar with the relative position of the shelves and categories of books.
I am about to quit after the first 30 minutes- which included restarting multiple times. The overhead upper right hand corner is HUGE. I just want to organize things and then figure out where to put them afterward. Accidentally picking up a 10 volume book that I found on the first floor and it goes on the second floor almost made me cry and click restart again. Instead I closed it and I’m stepping away to write comments. I feel like I HAVE to get out a huge monitor to even be able to see the screen in order to even find the next book.

Also.. “drop”????? How am I supposed to create stacks around me if I’m just dropping it randomly?

I was going to just go along with this, but this is crazy.

I also just want the ability to have some hints in this silly tutorial and glowing books to find where they are in the first place. Maybe other people pick the book in front of them? I wandered then had to relook at commands in the menu (which I can’t remap and have super tiny pictures of what they are (I made an assumption that it was a scroll wheel to scroll through books—- not sure how to do that on my touchpad so I got out a mouse.

Then when I did pick up a book and picked a random one I went to the map and gad to solve a riddle. It was not clear that one side was up and one side was down. Even maps in malls don’t do this.

Obviously the only solution is that I’m going to draw out my own map, because screenshots would break going back and forth in the game.

Making it insufferable to play for someone who just wants a casual run and maybe upping the difficulty later to make the game replayable is what I want. I just want to put books in piles stacks and put books on the shelves to clean up the room to make it tidy so I can walk through, then organize.

I don’t even care about glowing or changing the game at this point—- make a patch to just hide the tutorial!!!! It looks like there’s an option in the bottom right of the menu but I can’t put my mouse on it (obviously). I just clicked every key on my keyboard to make sure I wasn’t missing it.

Ok. Stepping away from this review because I’m getting more worked up as I go and I’ll step away from the game, hook up a big monitor and try again later.

After finishing couple of rows in the shelves you are able to unlock Insight that makes the books in the same series glow (and easier to find). You just grab any book and use Insight to find the rest.
Thanks. I think my frustration was only based on the initial tutorial not having that guidance.

I’ve enjoyed the game.
