Is your GPU overcloaked? Try sizing down the display area of the preview window. And maybe try turning off reprojection. (SteamVR -> Settings -> Performance -> turn off "Allow Reprojection")
Edit: But this game is amazing! Thank you so much! :D
Reloaded Worm: Have you tried unchecking "Allow Reprojection"?
We will be adding more graphical settings in the next version. Remember, you can always use shift+click on the application to bring up the graphical details settings. There is a "low" setting with lower Anti-aliasing, less real-time lights and lower res textures.
We haven't changed anything since the 5th and we've seen smooth framerates on lower spec machines. These problems are possibly related. If it ran smooth before the 5th, it's probably a driver or OS issue.
Any changes in drivers? Does making the preview window smaller do any difference? (Also, you are sure you're not running any capture software in the background etc.?)
In SteamVR->Settings>Performance->Display Frame Timing you can see any problems that could arise. Any spikes there when playing? CPU or GPU?
Also, if other people have this problem, please send a screenshot of the Frame Timing (normal + detailed) + System report (SteamVR->Settings>General>Create system report>Save to file) to support@i-illusions.com.
We'll have a look...
ps if anyone is on the fence about this game pick it up!
Sorry QuarkCannon, how do I shift + click on the application. I'm not sure where to actually shift + click on. Cheers.
Edit: Never mind I figured it out. I set the graphics to low and it made all the difference. No frame skip whatsoever when I look at the ship now. To be honest, I can't even tell a difference in the graphics quality. The only thing I can notice is the lower Anti-aliasing and it's not even that much. Thanks so much for the advice. Looking forward to playing tonight!
/edit: Nevermind found it myself. For all others who don't know how to activate it:
Open Normal Steam, hold Shift and click on the Play in VR button. Then a window with graphic options should launch instead of the mirrored gameplay.
@QuarkCannon
I also drop frames, even on low when I look at the ship. My Specs are:
i7-2600K @ 4.2 GHz
GTX 970 standard clock
16 GB Ram
I did a very quick and dirty recording of Low settings.

It shows that when I turn to the ship, the weapon select dial lags behind significally more. It kinda dissapears when I disable reprojection, but then the gameplay itself feels worse.
Sorry for the very unscientific approach but that's all I can manage right now.
I will try to send a detailed report later today. Game is awesome nonetheless.
I'll put up a post later this week with all the tips & tricks I've collected in the past days.
That should be improved/gone when we are migrating to 5.4, which is not officially out yet.
It looks like I'm having frame issues though, i5 6500 and 980ti, and I'm not sure if it's SPT, the Vive or both. With SteamVR open my CPU0 chills at 98% (with SteamVR beta) but everything (Hover Junkers, Brookhaven, theBlu, AudioShield, Tiltbrush etc) runs fine.
SPT looks like it pushes it over 100% and start dropping frames after the 3rd wave or so and gets steadily worse until I feel like I'm a pirate on a choppy sea.
Weird thing is once it's in this state I need to restart SteamVR to get it to play anything else...
Happens on both graphics settings, anything I'm missing? Cheers.
