Beam and Auto Laser are used a lot by new players, since they are the easiest to use.
What is the highest score that you've seen with a non-railgun-using run, and what weapon(s) was being used? I would seriously love to see a 200K+ run done with dual semi-autos, as it's just such a fun playstyle.
In fact, have you considered an alternate gamemode for each weapon where you can only use THAT weapon? People could shoot for high scores using their favorite weapon, without being at a disadvantage because they aren't using "the best" weapon.
Looking forward to it!
If you've been using the auto laser and like the style of it, I suggest at least making the switch to the burst laser. You can fire it without much of a delay between bursts, so it's basically automatic, and the rate of fire is SO much faster, tearing apart drones. I actually think that, if you had perfect accuracy, the burst laser might have the highest DPS in the game (assuming that you don't fire the semi-auto impossibly fast).
If you want to make the jump to the railgun, I suggest starting by always having your sights lined up (and using the 3-dot sights, not the default one). Just hold your arm straight out, line up your sights, and keep your arm straight as you move around. If your hand is steady enough, you can just put the dot on a drone and blast him instantly. Your arm might get a bit tired, but it makes shooting drones on the move with a railgun fairly easy.
I later tried to to get better at aiming with the railgun and it's been going pretty well. I also noticed that the sight turns green when it's on an enemy, and knowing that helps a lot. Been getting some lucky shots sometimes. Trying to get better at it. Thanks for the tips!
Yeah, no problem! I've actually been throwing all of the little tricks and tips I've found into a guide (I figured that there should be at least ONE guide for the game). It's not much, but give it a read if you're interested! It's literally the only guide for SPT on Steam, so it's easy to find, haha.
Oh, yes, I forgot to put that in my guide! Black drones have considerably more health and have different firing patterns. While white drones usually fire ~3-5 lasers at a time, black drones fire those huge lines of lasers.
I should test to see how much more health they have. I suspect that it is double, since they really soak up semi-auto rounds and give you double points when you kill them.
