OBj. won't import into tiltbrush
Hi! am I doing something wrong? each time i try to export an obj, then open it in tiltbrush, it fails. I have opened the sculpt vr program in meshmixer, then re-exported it as an Obj and it worked fine as a workaround, but it'd be better if it imported straight in! :)

Hope a solutuon can be found to smooth your workflow.

My ony complaint with obj export is is that up is not up in the export, but that happens a lot in 3d import/export.

I'd also be very interested in seeing in how you using ScuptVR and Tilbrush together. Are you sharing your work online?

Hi Vic! No I'm not really showing my work online, I have only just started mixing the two, I have been hard at at it all weekend and need a break now! I'm displaying a few pieces at a VR art exhibition in Spain this week. Here is a dropbox link for you to experience it for yourself. I made the soundtrack in soundstage, I just very quickly made the background buildings in sculpt VR, the robot I sculpted in Kodon (the new updates are making this amazing!) if you move the obj. files to your tiltbrush media/models folder then it should work, enjoy! Oh and if you could scale it to dog size too and link the music then that would be cool! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxUz8VqJjp4XQzNBZFd0MktNejQ

Thanks for posting, @fezz! I'm sorry the obj export isn't working very easily for you.

We use a non-standard format for our obj files that only work in ~50% of programs. SculptrVR uses vertex colors instead of UVs and a texture file, and vertex colors aren't explicitly supported by the .obj spec.

There's not an easy way to fix it on our end, but I'll poke one of the Tilt Brush engineers I know to see if he's willing to put in a fix on their end. But it's probably not very easy for them to fix either :-/

Hi Nathan!
Thanks for the detailed info, much appreciated! It would be great if tiltbrush supported fbx files too while your on the phone ;) The more these programs work together the better!

The vertex colors in objs are very worth having. MagicaVoxel uses PLY to export meshes with vertex color but that is also non-standard from what I have read.

Ok I talked with someone at Tilt Brush, and there should be a quasi-solution on their end SOMEDAY. But he asked me not give much more info.

Thanks for bringing this up!
