The game won't launch [SOLVED]
My steam status displays "In-Game", re7.exe appears in the task manager, but that's all, the game just won't start.

I read some topics having the same issues and some advised to try and run the game directly from the local files, still nothing. (I even tried running it as an administrator, to no avail).

I don't get any error message either, saying that I'm missing some .dll files or else, so I have no idea why the game just won't start.

Windows 7 64bits
Intel Core i5-4690 (3.50GHz)
8GB RAM
NVidia GeForce GTX 770 4095MB

Here is so far what I tried, with no improvement to the problem :

-Verified the game cache. Steam didn't detect anything in particular

-Started the game as admin from the local files.

-Updated my NVidia driver.

-Unplugged every USB device I have except for my mouse and my keyboard.

-Unplugged my second monitor, in case the problem would be related to screen resolution or whatever.

-Restarted Steam.

-Restarted my computer.

-Deactivated my antivirus.

-Added the whole re7 folder to my antivirus whitelist

-Launched the DXSetup.exe in the _CommonRedist files just to see if it would install some missing parts.

-Launched the vc_redist.x64 and .x86 and requested a repair

-Did a full uninstall/install of both vc_redist.x64 and x86

-Installed the latest 2017 version of vc_redist.x64

-deleted the steam_api64.dll and performed another integrity cache check

-reinstalled the game

-tried to play the game in Big Picture mode

So, after at least 4 hours of doing all sorts of things and checking everywhere on the internet, I finally found the solution (thanks to http://www.gosunoob.com/resident-evil-7/errors-problems-re7/ )

I opened the local files again, right-clicked on re7.exe > properties > compatibility and checked "Run this program as administrator", then ran re7.exe.

What happened after is that re7 seemed to try and start twice, and so asked me the permission as an admin twice, and then the game finally launched.

I'd assume that what caused the game to not launch properly was that it required both autorisations. Just right-clicking and launching as an admin would grant the permission for the "first launch" but not for the second and therefore the game would not start.

I just want to say thanks. I've been trying to get the thing running for at least a month now, installing 'missing' .dlls and everything, and this worked for me. I'd like to say I'm positive I tried this before, but I guess I didn't change the properties to administrator and then run as administrator before.

Worked like a charm, thanks again.

I had problems with this game launching as well. I tried the run as administrator fix but it didn't work. What worked was running the game in compatability mode for windows 8. I hope this helps others who may be stuck as I was. Make sure to save the settings.

It works for me as well for resident evil 3 remastered, the issue was identical. thanks !
It seems this is affecting every single modern resident evil game. This needs addressed.
