D-Series vs E-Series

Something I've been wondering. It's revealed via in-game files that the A-D series were a progressive series of experiments, with most of the earlier series being deemed failures. The process was finally perfected with the E-series (which is what Eveline is).

In order to cure Zoe and Mia, Ethan must collect a D-Series arm and head to create the D-Series serum. This indicates that the Baker family, Mia, and Ethan were all infected with the outdated D-Series form of the mold. But why is this? If Eveline is the one who infected them, and she's already a carrier of the perfected E-Series, then why did she pass an inferior/flawed version of the mold around? Shouldn't she be spreading the E-Series to increase its effectiveness as a state-of-the-art bio-weapon?

Just played it for the first time and i have a major question what if ethan just never went? Wouldn't Eveline have deid from old age in another year or two i mean she ages so fast could of even been in that year.

I get that she has missed treatments or had a mixup of ingredients but still she was on the verge of death before you even showed up, Even whith normal aging she wouldnt of lasted long.

I understand that they needed her to be a mind controller with practically no phisical body but she could of just had broken legs and be mid 40's to be the immobile mind controller and keep the plot of needing to stop her but honestly he could of just punched her instead of using the cure and she would have died without going beserk.

They could of even gave her some creepy lines throught the game instead of the whole 2 lines of acting at the end, Literally just finished it like 10 mins ago and ive already forgot what she said, It was something along the lines of no one likes me and go to hell.

Since the entire Baker family and Mia had already been infected by Eveline prior to Ethan's arrival, her need for a family was likely the only thing preventing them from all turning into molded, which probably would have happened in the event of Eveline's death.

I guess this also answers my own question in a roundabout way. Perhaps Eveline intentionally infected the Bakers and Mia with the inferior D-Series strain to ensure that they'd turn into regular molded if they ever found a way to circumvent her brainwashing and abandon her.
