It was too much.. i felt depressed as well, boring, felt different. the end-plot sotryline isnt too good either, about this child bioweapon sh*t. but going through the ship, specially for the first time, when you explore everything...makes you feel odd and want to get rid all of that bad feeling. And after all, unfortunately it puts a negative taste on the game. :/
Least favorite, well.. the ship part was boring as hell..
least favorite - the wrecked ship, the fact that you basically have to do it twice makes it worse
Least favourite part: The processing area. Whether it's before fight #2 with Jack or later on, looking for the snake key, it's just not that fun. Too many molded (I like the molded, but there's too many IMO) to fight, it can get way too panicky and I hate getting cornered.
I also gotta mention the boat. I'm kinda 50/50 on the boat- On one end, I liked the exploration stuff where you have to find everything on your own. It's like a nice restart. Also, it lets you get some other neat weapons that wouldn't make sense if they were in the Baker estate. Playing as Mia was nice too, She's kinda just been powerless throughout most of the game leading up to the boat so it's cool to see her do something and defending herself. On the other end, the story stuff. it was just kinda long and boring. Sure, it explained some stuff, but I just didn't like that as much.
Long videos. Running around in the forest.
The video tape with the haunted house guys.
Rescuing mia. Mias chainsaw shenanigans.
The f-ing dinner table scene.
Jack going around when you don't have equipment.
I finished the game 4 times now to get a lot of the achievements.
( ~8 times if you count the ones before I bought it myself )
And every single time I have to play all of that boring a$$ stuff. XP
I mean don't get me wrong it's awesome the first time but the game desperately needs a fast-start option after you finished on madhouse.
Just spawn me in the first save room with my knife and let me go to the garage, man.
( I should've kept saves at this spot for both normal and madhouse XD )
Apart from that nitpicking:
The ship.
It's easily the weakest part of the game. Pure padding.
You go up and down all round to get your stuff.
And in the the end you really only need a fuse and a cable.
Favorite parts:
Everything else. :P
I like exploring and fighting the molded more than the boss fights.
Although at this point I'm not exploring anymore.
Let's call it collecting instead. XP
Least Favorite Part: After getting the serum you go to a boat and the game completely goes down hill here. I didn't like Mia and Zoe and they didn't really need to be in the story. The final villain was also stupid and ruined the fun atmosphere.
Resident Evil 7 had the potential to be super amazing and awesome, but it really took a hit in the 2nd part of the game. The gameplay is fun and the Baker house charming, but the plot revealed is what makes it stupid. It's one of those games that I'd wish I'd just stopped playing halfway through. I don't mind Ethan as a character or that there's almost no music in the game, but what I can't stand is when the developers try to over complicate a plot as the game goes on. I just want plain villains and good guys. Keep it simple and that's what the first half does. The second half ruins it totally.
