Rigging Lucas' Game IN the Tape?

Not sure if this has been discussed already, but I'm just really curious about this. We know that through the tape, Ethan can cheat and put the answer into the lock without having to take the winder out of the barrel, right? Is Clancy able to do that himself in the video?

No, I tried. It just says something about not knowing the password.

there is a failsafe that in the tape you wont be able to enter the password without activating the stupid robot, thus die!

"It'll be difficult to open without knowing the password" or something along those lines show up when trying to shortcut the room in the tape itself. It's just like trying to enter the happy birthday door code as Ethan. Usually the code is 1408 but if you try and put that code in before running the gauntlet it will say the code is wrong.

The code will then change to something completely different but if you don't try and put the code in, when you get to the dead body with the code on it it'll say the code is 1408. Pretty genius for standard play but damned annoying for speedruns on Capcom's part really.

This sequence was so cool! Cheating the game because you already did it once before... I felt so smart.
