vr performance is SUPER GOOD re8 struggles 10x more
re7 dont struggle
3k hour vr general user here, owns q2 q3 pico4. it is largely to do with your PC. i would say a 3070 is minimum requirement. and you are correct, i usually run my vr at 2500x2500x2 res, so it is a bit more than 4k in total. for quest 2, you can get away with 2000x2000x2, but accounted for barrel distortion.
Oculus Quest 3, Ryzen 5 3600, EVGA GEFORCE RTX 3060XC, 16 GB Ram. I am content to leave the graphics where I have them, but I need to make it perform just a little more smooth. Any recommended settings I've overlooked?
Here's the answer: the direct x 12 mod looks much sharper and is better defined than the direct x 11 mod. You can tweak the graphics through the Steam VR settings, you just have to be careful as to how high you set it as it can totally kill your performance. I've got the Steam VR settings to just below default settings. For my card specs that's the best balance I've been able to get between good performance and great graphics. I'm still experimenting to get the perfect balance between sharp graphics and good performance. Obviously your video card specs will affect this.
It doesn't have to have the best graphics, but the objects at least need to look solid. Like initially, the leaves and the car looked like there was a mesh over them.
I don't know what kind of a problem your having but this game needs Steam VR to run! No it doesn't show up in your VR games list but if you've enabled the RE Framework patch Steam VR should start automatically. It's better to start Steam VR from your Steam library first and then launch the game. That way there is less chance of your game crashing. I also recommend using the open XR api rather than the open VR api since it tends to be unstable. You can't have both in the game folder, you must delete one to use the other. When Steam Vr launches you'll see the little window showing VR is enabled. You left click on that & that is where you set your *video settings. This is what determines how good or bad your game runs. This is where your problem lies not in direct X 12. These settings should be changed before you launch the game not during as it will cause instability & may crash your game.
