Why 1st Person?
Just when Capcom was starting to deliver a 3rd person experience with proper controls/feel theyve switched it up FULLY to first person!? BAD IDEA.

The game has always been 3rd person. While I agree that they went more action / less horror with RE6, and while I welcome the return to the spooky creepy feel that I fell in love with when I first played the RE1 Demo in a kaybee toystore in the mall when I was 13 yrs old.. I do not feel leaving the 3rd person view was a good decision, especially when the control of the characters was just starting to feel smooth and clean. Aiming was terrible in every RE game up to RER1 and RE6.

After this, I hope they wake up and realize that the future is in 3rd person open enviornment gaming with extremely responsive controls. Capcom's RE Devs need to play some Warframe.

Do we actually need those smooth and clean controls from RE6/RER2 in a game supossed to be about a more slow-paced and restrictive horror experience? That's the dilemma.

Btw, I don't think aiming controls in RE7 will be affected in any way since shooting in first person view or shooting in OTS view is virtually the same. Moving controls will be likely downgraded and probably a bit clunky if not handled properly.
Haters gonna hate.

Starting? They've been using 3rd person for 20 years already. And 11 of those years are plagued by Over the Shoulder perspective which is pathetically overused in this franchise already.

The change was bound to happen sooner or later, fans liking it or not. I welcome it with my arms wide open. Enough of RE4 clones for me. I probably wouldn't even buy RE7 if it was announced in over the shoulder angle again.

So much better in first person. RE controls always sucked, finally we are free of clunky stand to shoot and dodgy autoaim.

I played the demo on the PS4 and I will be buying the game via Steam for the PC. I loved the first person view. I expected to hate it, but it just...works. I've not enjoyed Resi games because the controls are often very awkward and distract from the experience. The first-person demo felt more natural and didn't distract from the experience at all, in fact, it enhanced the experience.

im glad to hear it sounds like it has nice control, but re6 and revelations controls werent terrible. if they made the jump from 6 to 7 like they did from 4 to 5 and 5 to 6 there would be no control issues. there are many 3rd person shooter games with no issues. in 2016 we dont need terrible control limitations to enhance the feeling of fear, nor do we need visual limitations *cough first person cough flashlight with ♥♥♥♥ range cough*

The game they created this time around would be horrible in third person. I played the demo and everyting in the game is designed for a up close and personal feel.

I hope not. The future will always be in a variety of gameplay mechanics that suit the narrative of the game. Not sticking soley to 3rd person open enviornment.

I can agree about the controls, but not about visual limitations. A large part of the horror genre revolves around fear of the unknown. What you can't see is often scarier than what you can. In a horror game, an unseen rat scuttling through a dark corridor can be scarier than a chainsaw maniac running straight at you. The original titles used this to great effect with their fixed camra angles. I agree that we don't need to go back to that in 2016/2017, but limiting what the player can see was a big part of what made the series scary until 4 came out and "actionized" the series. Honestly, "first person cough flashlight with ♥♥♥♥ range" is a far better method of doing that than anything the series has done before.

If that's true, then the future of gaming is going to be incredibly boring.

I've never had any issue with controls in old RE games, and anyone who played them back in the day will know that those games were, and still are, perfectly playable. Some people just need to realize that games from the late '90s obviously won't fit in their modern gaming standards as they will play different, which doesn't mean worse nor better, just different.

please leave RE to the real fans, i love this different perspective, remember that they did it with RE4 too, they went from fixed viewpoints to 3rd person. and it worked.

and to the warframe ♥♥♥♥♥♥, that's just one of the genres available. i'm really glad not everything is 3rd person.

I agree with this. I've never really understood why people have so many problems with tank controls.
