Ray-tracing not working? "This feature cannot be used with your current hardware configuration"
I've done as much research on this as I can so far and can't seem to find a fix. Most of the topics on this issue stemmed from RE Village last year, and the "fix" was to simply be on the current version of Windows and make sure GPU driver updates were up to date as well.

I'm on the most recent version of Windows according to both my system and their website. As are my other drivers, including NVidia. My specs are enough to handle it as well, but the feature is totally greyed out in this game while sporting this message.

NVidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
16GB DDR4
Intel i7 10700F

---Is anyone else having this issue for the RE games? If so, how did you fix it?

Everywhere I looked it said that the card should be capable of it with a driver update, but from what I can see, I have the latest updates to enable it. I don't see any additional available.

Iirc that only works with a few games because it was something nvidia added at the driver level to show that non rtx cards sucked at ray tracing.

Dang. Guess I'm not just going crazy and this game isn't one of em. Honestly, the game looks amazing regardless still, so I'm not too hurt over it.

letting you enable it wouldn't do much good for you as the game would run at an unplayable framerate

you need a card with actual rt support, like the geforce 20xx or 30xx series

there isn't much difference between rt on and rt off, you're not missing out on much and it's mostly marketing hype that people buy into

That's fair. I mean, I beat the first L4D game at 3-5fps over the coarse of several hours because I was determined to "PC game", even on a toaster. Not sure much could get worse than that, but I am too spoiled now to tolerate a bad framerate. I'll definitely need to look into upgrading what I have running.

Maybe you could look for some used 2000 series cards, if you really want that ray tracing. Your 1660ti is a good card, but I'm sure it causes bottlenecks with your 10700.

3090's and 3080's get brought to their knees with RT. Just forget about it with your card. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth.

raytracing is horrible even with a 3090

Sometimes there is comfort in the truth. Thanks for your honesty. As I said, this game still looks amazing regardless. The game even look fantastic on Stadia.

I quit on RE7, RE3 looks much better with RTX and HDR and has native widescreen 3840x1600 :)

Check my posts:

Resident Evil 3 + RTX + HDR Ultrawide

Resolution: 3840x1600
Quality: Ultra
RTX On

Not sure if I'd "quit" on RE7, but those screenshots definitely look fantastic.

"Everywhere" is wrong. The 1660ti is not an RTX card, period. There are no "driver updates". It does not have RT cores or tensor cores. The hardware is not there, software isn't going to enable something that isn't there. The 2060 is the lowest-end RTX card available.

There could be some confusion because some games implement software-based RT (which is nowhere near the quality) that will work on anything, but then the work has to be done by your CPU. Which basically doesn't work.
