I picked Zoe because she was at least kind of interesting. Mia is boring, but her ending is the better one.
The whole point of the game is that Ethan is doing everything he does to safe his wife.
There is ZERO reason for him to trust Zoe at that point in the story, a woman he knew for a few hours, who constantly keeps secrets from him and who belongs to the crazy family trying to kill him.
As a player we dont know Mia and the decision may be more open, but if you roleplay Ethan in any form there is no chance in hell he would ever choose Zoe.
Also, choosing Zoe gives you the worse ending and the final DLC blatantly tells you that giving it to Mia is the canon for CAPCOM.
There is. If my wife chops my left hand with a chainsaw and tries to murder me several times, I'd rather trust the unknown girl who at least still behaves like human and tries to be somehow helpful while being the only person in that crazy house not trying to torture and kill me.
By that point you already know that she acts strange because of the infection and is not responsible for her actions. You literally have the cure in your hand. There is ZERO reason to not use it on your wife at that point.
But she is your wife. You are not playing yourself, you are playing Ethan who came all this way to find and save his wife.
And actually not "anybody" would. According to CAPCOM around 75% of players choose Mia in that scene.
In the end its meaningless anyway. Everyone should just choose who they thought was right and thats it.
Not being responsible for her actions doesn't make her any less dangerous, she was unstable and had already shown sympthoms of advanced infection. Besides, Ethan wouldn't have even know about the serum if it wasn't for Zoe, she helped him survive after his waifu lured him into a death trap and almost killed him; explained him what was going on and what they needed to do, and later saved his life by telling him to use one of the serums on Jack.
Furthermore, Zoe was just a victim. Mia wasn't an inocent person at all, she lied and hid things from Ethan, didn't help him a single time, almost killed him and never told him that she was working with a shady bioterrorist organization, which makes her in part guilty for what happened, as she and Alan were the ones responsible for escorting Eveline and for taking the necessary measures to stop her if she went rogue.
As a moral choice, what did Mia to actually deserve the cure? (besides being Ethan's wife).
True, but none of that is known to Ethan at that point.
He only knows he found his wife after 3 years, she was acting strange because of on infection that also got the Baker family. Zoe offers him a serum that can cure it and then he has the choice who he will give it to.
Sorry but i dont believe a man who searched 3 years! for his wife, gone through all that to save her would then leave her behind to go away with some strange girl he met a few hours before.
Who is part of the family that kept Mia prisoner for years.
I did not think for one second about giving the serum to Zoe and that was the first time i played the game and did not know the consequences yet.
I am honestly very surprised that so many people here seem to have given it to Zoe, from the 5-6 friends of mine who i know played the game, everyone gave it to Mia.
Which also seems to be the case for pretty much every Lets Play of the game i skipped through.
So i honestly believe that the majority of players did go with Mia at that point.
And according to the Steam achievement stats nearly 40% of players got the Mia ending achievement and just 20% got the Zoe one.
Which seems to collaborate with the CAPCOM numbers of 2/3 of players choosing Mia over Zoe.
Again, if you did choose Zoe at that point then that is 100% totally fine. Its your playthrough. Nobody has any right to tell you how to play. I am just saying that i think the players who choose Zoe are the clear minority.
