It's best to view EoZ as a goof, like the Jack's Birthday "Banned Footage". Not meant to be taken seriously, for some reason.
In addition, Redfield is veteran of biological epidemics but even he cannot kill monsters that easy.
I think capcom just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up at this point
PS: Chris can kill molded with punches and knifes. Try Not a Hero on professional.
someone who's 220 pounds of pure muscle and an ex-military trained boxer being able to ♥♥♥♥ them up is believable enough by RE standards

EoZ is obviously campy and you're welcome not to like it but i really fail to see how *this* is where re7 stops suspending disbelief.
Is Chris being able to gore molded consistently with one quick jab an issue?
RE was originally campy B movie style, and sort of began to lose it's charm as it moved into "action movie" territory with 5-6. RE7 has a ton of camp, with some serious horror elements. All of the DLC is camp, excluding NaH.

You're talking about gameplay and I'm talking about plot logic. I never said this started with EoZ or even with RE7, since melee attacks were included in the series they have allways been stronger than regular pistol bullets. And there's no logical explanation for that, it's just gameplay.
If anyone could take down infected monsters and BOWs with their bare fists or a pocket knife then for fully armed trained soldiers it would be a cakewalk, and we wouldn't see trained cops, BSAA units, Umbrella soldiers, etc. allways dropping like flies. Gameplay and lore don't follow the same rules.
Sure, but the actual "skin" of Molded beings is a calcified shell. Basically a buglike carapace made from bone which can liquify and contort at will. Imagine punching a solid bone plate- Floyd Mayweather Jr. breaks his hands all the time from Boxing with gloves on most of the time, and he's punching people.
This is kind of fun to nitpick, but really it's meant to be silly. I enjoy it for it's goofiness.
