Can you defend yourself or do you just run away?

Not a fan of horror games where you just run and hide all game. Can you defend yourself like the old resident evil games or is it just mostly avoiding the baddies?

Yeah plenty of weapons for a RE game, a couple pistols, a shotgun, some different melee weapons, a DIY flamethrower and other weapons. Plus crafting can provide more powerful ammunition.

With the Bakers yes, think of them like Nemeisis from RE3. With enough fire power you can temporairly knock them out, but they will get back up. With Molders headshots can stun them as well but with enough regular or enhanced rounds you can actually kill them. I am assuming like Nemesis we will eventually be able to kill each Baker but that would be later in the game.

Basically sometimes you defend yourself and sometimes you run. Definitely not as passive as in the demo from the looks of it (actual gameplay videos).

You can defend yourself in the demo by putting your hands up, but it seems to only reduce the amount of damage you would take, rather than negating all of the damage. You definately have weapons to defend yourself before an enemy attacks you. Seems like the shotgun is going to be the best weapon for defense, since you will most likely be in close quarters combat.

There are two weapons already in the demo: a handgun and an axe, and it's just a demo. There will be more weapons in the game, some already confirmed. Just don't expect a brainless action fest where you just gun down hordes of enemies that drop goodies over and over again like in RE4, 5 and 6, because they said combat isn't the main focus of the game.

Yep, I think we even get to see one happening in one of the trailers but thats just a assumption on my part.

I remember reading about being able to obtain a chainsaw, and in the newer vid I believe we see the player wielding a shotgun aginst Jack who seems to have a Chainsaw. I believe in the boss battle aginst Jack we will be able to get his chainsaw after defeating him, either in a broken state in which we will have to obtain parts for it somewhere or as is once we defeat Jack for posssibly the last time. That is just my theory though.

I also read from a leak about a potenial boss diffrent from the Bakers that has really got me excited but considering the leak seemed fishy its hard to trust it.
