Best way to kill Marguerite ?? Flamethrower useful later?

First playthrough on normal mode and I just beat her....but it cost me 20+ shotgun shells, 4 powerful handgun bullets, like 10 regular bullets, and almost 300 flame thrower fuel, not to mention most my healing potions...
Unfortunately I stayed up on the second floor and didnt find the other 250 or so flame fuel on the first floor until after the fight.

So

Question 1.) Should I replay the fight and try and save some ammo by using more flames?

Question 2.) Is the flamethrower useful down the road? Or is it more of a speacialized weapon for Marguerite and all the bug nests?

You don't need to replay anything. You're supposed to waste some ammo in that fight.

I find the flamethrower to be useless for anything but bugs...sadly. You would think flames are awesome against mold...

flamer is useless, its only good to destroy those nests, if you want you can waste it on margaritte.

her weak spot is between a legs anyway

nope. You have to deal quite a damage to her.

It's good for Lucas's tripwire traps, IIRC.

FT works good against the slime walkers if you kite them.

In Nightmare mode it's helpfull for hitting multiple targets at once.
with careful management you can kill a molded in 8-20 flamer fuel.

I just beat her and found this thread thinking the same question. She went down pretty easy but I spent 18 shot gun shells and 20 handgun ammo. I fought her going up and down the hole in the floor by the fireplace using it to dodge her. She didn't even spawn any nests. I guess bc I kept the pressure on. I didn't realize the scope of the arena until after the battle either. Now I have over 500 burner ammo an I'm hearing it isn't much use. Heck!
