Crash on Startup FIX!
If you're crashing after the splash screens
but managed to open the game up to the "options" and "start game" screen only once and crashed everytime there after

Go to Start menu>control panel>programs and features. Then uninstall any codec packs that you may have installed. The offending codec pack for me was a pack called "windows media player codec" I believe.

Hope it works for you. I couldn't load the game for well over a day till I figured it out.

I'll try this. My game starts well and the intro runs fine, but when I get to the start menu, it crashes EVERYTIME.

This also worked for me, installed the same codec after having re7 installed, removed and worked fine.

However that was on a new install of windows, had re7 on old win 10 install, which was installed after the same codec pack was already installed and it worked fine.

Seems to be an issue if you install the codec pack after you install re7

If you don't use wmp for anything, you should uninstall it. Any software you don't need or use can be a hindrance on performance.

i've been having a similar issue only when ever i load up the game it literally instantly crashes, No explanation at all, no error screen, it just freaking CRASHES! i have footage of it doing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBoJxChjN88

I don't see why that would do anything and it didn't
As most of the game crash on startup discussions here have no solution and Capcom isn't bery helpful I think I am just going to refund.

I tried this but I didn't have any codec files but my game does the same thing.
