What setting do you have Shadows on?

try to turn off shadow cache if it doesn't work just turn your texture quality down a bit.my gtx970 can't handle high textures cause of the vram and it stutters if i move to fast or turn around certain corners.with medium textures everything runs like butter.hope i could help.

I've heard having Shadow Quality set too high is the main cause of this.

Have you tried running Steam in offline mode? I'm not sure why, but it drastically reduced the hitching/freezing for me.

Turn of shadow cache. It doesnt effect how the game looks but runs way better. Make sure your resolution scale is at 1.

I fixed it on mine by switching the framerate from variable to 60 fps. Playing with the shadows didn't do anything. I've got everything maxed, set the framerate to 60, and everything is good now.

Don't worry. Medium textures look exactly the same as very high textures. I compared the game on medium/high/veryhigh texture setting while restarting the game every time and screenshotting with fraps. There's absolutely not even 1 pixel of a difference. Those settings only control texture streaming, so when you put it to medium it won't fill up your vram. It will pop in when you enter a new room, but it only takes like 0,5 second to load those textures.

it feels like shadow caching may have been the main cause. I still havent been around the more intense areas yet but soon and ill report back.
