Replayability of game?
Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked previously, i just didnt want to come across any spoilers through search.

Just wondering if there is much replay value to this game? Like in previous RE games where there was raid mode or mercenaries etc.. is there some equivelant in this game? like an arena survival? or some form of extra modes? (other than DLC mini-stories)

I mean the game looks good, but from the demo im guessing its more of a "realism" type change which may not include the above?

Cheers all

Nope , nothing. The only thing is you unlock a few items for a second playthrough like special items and weapons. But this game is not like the last few Resident Evils (4-6) The action factor is way lower, its a survival horror game through and through. A raid or mercenary modus would just not fit with the theme of this game.
Well there are two endings to reach and you unlock the really difficult "Madhouse" mode after finishing the game. And some of the achievements are pretty much not doable on your first try. ( finish game under 4 hours, never using the item box and so on) Well if you dont follow
some guide from the beginning. It can be fun working on those after your first playthrough.

I personally thought this was the best Resident Evil since 2 but i always preferred the oldschool Resident Evil style of gameplay to the more action oriented games since Resi 4.

Cheers for the reply! Good to know. Looking at the trailers and playing the demo i did think it was going more towards serious survival horror, rather than extra modes but its worth an ask as its not written anywhere!

Beating the game on any difficulty unlocks Madhouse which is more of a "remix" mode than just a straight difficulty increase. Honestly its pretty much like playing a completely different game, both mechanically and in terms of like X item isn't in Y location. To say *what* changes would spoil the fun but its definitely a lot.

The DLCs add several modes that have a ton of replayability, Nightmare and Jack's 55th Birthday are what you'd be considering if you're a fan of Mercs, though neither is a carbon copy of it. I don't personally care for 21 but I'm not a fan of card games. If you do like them, however, its great.
It has TONS of replayability. From the Standard Runs, Two Endings, Madhouse (Which changes the whole game + Makes it harder), Unlockables, Speedrun Challenges, Knife Only Runs, "Mercenaries" (Nightmare) Mode, DLC + All the other mini-games, like Ethan Must Die, Jacks 55th Birthday, Bedroom, Daughters, etc. It has the same replay value like any other Resident Evil game, however it has more variation on some things.

While replaying the Standard/Normal mode isn't as good as Replaying REmake for example, it is still worth it fully. I would say that my second playthrough scared me far more than my first one. I don't know why, but i just explored some other things i haven't and found the things i have missed. I also used the new Pistol i unlocked, which made some things easier, and other things far harder. The bosses were easier by far, but the regular enemies were harder with it. Since it packs a punch, but it is far slower with only 3 bullets in a magazine.

And obviously there are the optimized runs, like not picking the first shotgun up, or even bothering with it and just getting the better one first. I also missed the second stabilizers that were hidden in the courtyard on the second half of the game with the Replica Axe and Replica Shotgun (Means you can have both of them).

They do give you a time on competion and the speed run community is strong. Many of us love speed running survival horror games and this one is no exception. It's very friendly towards us speed runners. New records are still being made and runs are done daily. Now if you get the DLC they introduce nightmare mode which has a ton of replay-ability as well as 21 but that's a card game. There's some other fun modes such as Jack's Birthday alongside Ethan Must Die.

This game has quite a few challenges that add some replay value, together with some collectibles you also need to unlock everything. But there's no real extra modes unless you buy the DLC so far (Not a Hero free DLC will change that though), so, there is replayability if you don't mind playing through the same story several times.
