My best score on Nightmare is something like 700, 000 and on Night Terror it was around 1.1 million... I did the exact same thing on both runs.
The trick is to get through it with the bare minimum of scrap consumption. You have to start up both available scrap machines immediately and buy a weapon like the machine gun, something that has a huge ammo capacity and make sure every head shot counts.
Run back and forth and collect scrap while killing molded until you can buy a corrosive bottle and open up the closest door to the next scrap machine.
Once both doors are open and you have access to all 4 scrap machines you basically have to rush back and forth collecting scrap and buy the scrap production upgrades... after that, you want to collect scrap and just horde it until the very end...
The more scrap you have in your possession when you finish your run, the more points you get.
If you average 1 million points per run on Night Terror you only have to play the mode 10 times to unlock infinite ammo.
