Serum Boxes

In the serum boxes found around in different stages in the game, are those mini human skeletons inside? Are they some sort of pygmy's? What are they?

I believe they are other Experiments in the same way that E-001 was the only successfull. But they are technically the same experiment so they can be used to create a counter serum!

so the d series head, is that thing a living human fetus? Or the d series arm rhat came out of a,mummified child ? So are d series failed tests?

From my understanding, yes, they were living D-series subjects that failed. I don't think they were human, in the same way Eveline isn't really human. They just gave her the appearance of one, as explained in one of the last files in the game.
