Finishing the game in less than 4 hours
Want to get the circular saw but heard you need to finish the game in less than 4 hours to get it.
I'm going to do it on easy but still, any tips to do it extra fast?

Just don't stop for useless items, just get the key things, avoid most of the enemies and just keep running.
I beat the game under 3 hours by "accident". I was simply trying to get every collectible and actually made a accidental speedrun :D

I suggest watching a speedrun. While you won't be able to match their speed, most likely (I don't know, maybe you can if you're that good), but the way they do things will make your run VERY quick. I'm currently doing what you're doing, and just trying to go as fast as possible, but watching a speedrunner definitely helps you get through parts faster than you normally would. I heard that if you've beat the game already, you shouldn't have a hard time meeting that four hour mark if you really know what you're doing. Best of luck.

I'm at the 2.5 hour mark and just reached the boat. Is beating it under 4 hours still possible or should I just restart? Thanks!

It is possible.

I think you can. I beat everything from the boat part to the ending in around an hour and a half, but I was going for items and playing it slow just for the second ending. If you chose Mia then it will make it a tiny bit faster, but otherwise, I think you should be ok. Just be as quick as possible.

P.S. - Watch a speedrunner if you're desperate for time.

Don't use the Retry button, it overwrites the playtime

I'm too scared to even start the game, I got to the swing at the back of the house and... ... nah, I can't go in. Speed run, quickest game I have ever been in and out of. HAHAHA. :steammocking:

If you just try to do the objectives fast and run past enemies and unessencial stuff, the achievement unlocks itself. It's that easy. It helps a lot if you already beat the game once too.

I did it in under 3 hours on my first try.

To be honest, after I completed the game 2 or 3 times (I'm on my 6th or 7th run now), it now automatically takes me about 3 hours or less to beat the game without even trying, since I know everything by heart.

just remember what items you need and where they are, you can beat first half of the game (up to the boat) in about an hour and a half with picking up optional items and such, just dont forget where everthing is and dont save, no need since it auto saves for you.

You dont need to kill all the moulded you come across or take massive htis, just block an incoming attack and run past, taking reduced damage and locking them into a recovery animation shaving off a lot of time.

my first speed run, with no real strats and only the knowledge of my first playthrough landed me at 2:30, that includes getting lost, optional weapons and dieing a couple times. If you fail and go over then no worries, your one step closer to getting it since now you know what to do on the next run and more routes you can take.

My second playthrough on normal was beaten in 5 1/2 hours. That was without the use of any unlockables and was merely to get the remaining bobbleheads and all coins. Wasn't really a speedrun either so 4 hours is definitely obtainable. Since I just beat MadHouse I am going to start on easy and plow through with unliimited ammo. I reckon I will get through in 2 hours tops.

Oh and if for some reason you die, don't hit retry. It keeps the time already passed so just end your game and re-load the save or checkpoint.

Actually, there's a few parts where you need to reset for proper speedruns. Since it will actually save you time.

Play through at least once so you know what to expect/do, play on easy so fights are quicker and require less items. Don't pick up anything you don't think you'll use/need, a lot of items can be left behind. As long as you have 3 healing potions, and a full clip of ammo (especially enhanced ammo) you can move through the game. You're in the vicinity of the house for half of the game, so there's no need to scuttle everything you find to the storage box, those multiple trips add up over time.

Basically, you want to be at the boat about 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours into the game. I went to the boat at about 3 hours in on my first try, and even though I did it fast, it still took an hour and 15 minutes, putting me just over the 4 hour mark....keep in mind this was without any special unlock items.

On my second try though, I beat it in basically 3 hours because I beat bosses as quickly as possible (shotgun+enhanced ammo) Shooting margarite in her crotch with the shotgun takes down pretty quick. I usually do a mix of that plus flamethrower to conserve ammo.

No matter what difficulty you play it on, you're always going to end up with tons of ammo left over that never gets used, if you go for headshots.

Then progressively boost the difficulty as you complete the unlock conditions for the different rewards. The saw and x ray glasses are really good for subsequent playthrough on normal difficulty. And for hard, the two unlock coins for defense are a must since you can block basically any attack from doing damage.
