Garage - Can't climb ladder (Spoilers)

Right after Jack get's blown away by the exploding car and the ladder comes down from the blast. Am I supposed to push a specific button besides F, because it won't let me actually climb it while I'm standing right in front of it. I already tried reloading and doing the fight again thinking it was a one-time bug.

That's odd. What should happen is Jack grabs you as you try to go up the ladder, after that you can climb it.

Edit: and you're correct, F is all you should have to press iirc.

you need to pick up the pistol, otherwise you cant climb the ladder

Dont look up while trying to climb it. Look straight and go forward

I'll check for the pistol again if that's the case. I figured I could get it from the deputy but was unable to find it at first glance. I ended up thinking it was another case of video game logic by not allowing me to get it.
Will give it another try.

Edit: Thanks for the help, it was indeed the gun that I was missing.
