Massive Screen Tearing - RE7
Just built my PC like a month ago
My Setup:
Maximus Hero Alpha 3 MotherBoard, 16 GB RAM, GEForce GTX 1070, i7 Processor, 1TB SSD HDD
I have it connected to a 60 inch 4k samsung TV (Game Mode) to eliminate input lag.

The Problem:
Usually i mess with Vsync and it fixes any problems I may have with input lag and still keeps the game looking good. On resident evil 7 I had to set Vsync to "Fast" to eliminate the input lag. When i do this it creates MASSIVE screen tearing. You can actually see lines in the opening scene when the character moves her face. Is there a way that I can fix this? I think i listed all the information you all need to know but if you need more just ask.

I appreciate any and all help!!

Thanks :)

My opinion, just set it to the normal V-sync.
You don't need to eliminate input lag too much since it's not a competitive game.

If I were to leave Vsync at its regular "global setting" on the graphics card and "on" in game the input lag is too much to handle. I know i'm not playing competitive games but its still a problem when i go to shoot a boss and it delays :(

I'll try to see if i can do a borderless window with Vsync off and see if it changes anything. Thanks for the help guys!

Max pre-rend frames?

I too hate v-sync and if I had to choose between tearing and v-sync, I would choose tearing. I don't think my solution will be as helpful for you but what I did was upped the resolution scale so that it would push my FPS below my monitor refresh rate (100hz).

Also Xyes, i'll try anything at this point. Ill give it a try. A little tearing would be fine but this is like mutiple lines :(

Its worth a shot.
After that id go with Riva Tuner Statistics Server, (to limit framerate) sounds scary but its not.

Oh that was easy enough. It is set to Global Setting along with most everything else on my nvidia 3d settings.

If you click over to PROGRAM settings instead of GLOBAL.
you can set up a page just for RE7 .exe so it wont interfere with other games etc.
Knock Max Pre-Rendered Frames to 1 for lulz. see if it makes a difference.
Dont forget to click apply at the bottom right.
There is a restore button if it doesnt work or no likey likey :)

I had a similar issue. Whay fixed it for me was just switching to borderless windowed mode. I left v-sync and all the other stuff on like before. I messed around with turning various fps and v-sync settings in and off and nothing worked. But leaving everything the way I had it before and just going to borderless mode fixed it! Hope this helps.

I have solved the severe tearing issue using Nvidia's "Fast sync" option. Basically I have V-Sync off from the game settings but I activate it in my Nvidia Control Panel.

For some odd reason, if I enabled this only for re7.exe, the game wouldn't use it at all.
As soon as I globally enabled Fast Sync (so all apps will use it), it worked.
The game is now very smooth and there is very little input lag compared to traditional V-Sync.

I had the same problem while I had the game set to 60 fps with the in-game options (assuming that would play nice with my 60hz display) while also enforceing (adaptive)v-sync via driver - turns out the screen tearing completely disapears when I set it to "variable framerate" in-game and force (adaptive)v-sync via driver panel on my GTX 1080 - proper 60/60 with no tearing now.

edit: however I just noticed that "4K" bit of your post... I have a 4K screen as well but chose to run the game at 1440p because even on the GTX1080 performance wasn't great at 4K with everything else maxed out.
