Regenerating Health, Handgun Rankings, Knife damage and Other Useful Info
I've played through the game twice and I've worn it out so now I'm testing out mechanics I was curious about. This all relates only to Madhouse mode. I've tried to minimize spoilers.

Health regenerates on Madhouse to a point where you can take just one more weak hit from most enemies, more if you block. When you stop limping it is a sign that your health regenerated. I tested this by getting an enemy to hit me then walking away to regenerate and repeat.

Handgun Testing.

I tested the guns by shooting the same enemy in the crotch so that headshots wouldn't skew the results but I can't say whether other factors influenced results. M19 enhanced seems odd.

G17- 50 crotch blasts G17 Enhanced- 12 G17 Coin- 37 G17 Headshot- 7 G17 Enhanced Headshot- 2

M19- 37 crotch blasts M19 Enhanced- 15

Al 3 shot gun- 15 AL 3 shot gun Enhanced- 5

Magnum- 5

I tested the effects of the Offense Coin on shooting the G17 at enemy crotch and found it took 37 crotch blasts.

Enemy health appears to save damage over respawns. Say you leave a room causing an enemy to despawn when you return it will remember the original damage.

I tested this by shooting a Fat Molded in the gut with enhanced Al rounds, it would take 3 enhanced Al rounds to kill it. I first shot the creature 2 times then left causing it to despawn, when I returned it took just one shot to kill.

Different instances of the same monster type can have varying health values, most fat guys aren't as weak as the one I tested on. I'm saying this just so I don't get comments about fat guys taking longer to kill than I state but I suppose it's useful in its own way.

Knife damage test on a different monster than above.

23 handgun rounds to kill

45 pocket knife slashes
23 survival knife slashes
6-8 survival knife headshots which also seemed to stunlock to a degree

So anyone else got any tips of their own or info on things people may have missed? I wish I had known the magnum was kind of rubbish first time through, not that I even used it.

Honestly. The enemies in Madhouse are bullet spounges even with the upgrades (Especially the bosses) My tip? Circular Saw, that weapon is OP as hell and can eat through a bosses health...just don't forget to block. You should test out the damage from that weapon on different enemies. I'd do it myself but after getting 37/37 achievements I'm all RE7'd out for a couple of days XD

Of course with the circular saw the only bosses you can't use it against are Mutated Jack. Due to some of the eyeballs being located in stupid places and E-001 Final boss after the first phase. No way to beat it without a range weapon

You are kind of right and wrong. The enemies have technically never been weaker in an RE game, you can kill them in 2 headshots or 6-8 knife slashes. It's only because the game makes body shots more or less worthless that they appear to be sponges.

I probably won't test the saw because it's kind of awkward and I'm too lazy.

Jack I think you can knife to death, one of those belly ones gets awkward at one point but I think you can get it when he climbs up and down or when you knock it on its back. I still shoot that one but I'm certain a more determined person could do it.
