***SOLVED*** Can't go into true full screen

Samsung 55JS8500 HDR Enabled TV

So been playing all week no problem HDR works great game runs well enough at 4k and I'm about 2/3rds finished stopped playing for 3 days and come back tonight to finish and the game won't run in full screen no matter what I try.

It starts in "full screen" but really it's in windowed mode with a title bar across the top and my desktop clearly seen around the sides.

Settings say full screen and HDR is shown as on

but cant actually adjust HDR settings as it says you must be running in full screen to adjust these...yet the game itself tells me I am already. I know I'm not but for real!

Then I try switching to window/borderless window/ full screen thinking I can trick it into working right...nope...goes borderless just fine HDR doesnt work (but here at least its not supposed to) then when switching back to full screen the screen goes dark like its switching back to full screen yet I end up back in "full screen" with a windows border around the game and my desktop clearly in view and again HDR shows on but will not allow me to adjust settings and my tv does not recognize an HDR signal ( I know because when its in HDR contrast maxes out to 100 and its still sittingat 95)

This was all working great 3 days ago and I know a patch came out so I'm guessing its what borked my setup but I'm looking for a work around or a way to rol back to previous unpatched game. I just want to finish and its my last night off til next friday!!

Edit: I've found the problem for me with full screen not working and it's related to TeamViewer or maybe even remote desktop software in general need others in similar situations to test this by killing any additonal software running while trying to play the game specificaly TearmViewer or other remote management software. Let me know if this helps anyone by posting a comment.

Its a long shot but go for the 'Defaults' it may just reset it all.
You probably already tried this but ts gotta be worth a shot :)

yea thats a no go...just took me to "full screen" at 1920x1080 which on my 4k tv just became a windowed version a quarter of the screen size.

What else I've tried as well -

Rolled back to previous driver - Same problem
Edit .ini to show fullscreen=true - Same problem


The only thing I haven't tried at this point is unistaling the game or reinstalling windows (the first I'm ok with the second not so much)

What the hell is going on here?

First off, dont uninstall before you try a integ check, I did one this morning it only took about 3-4 mins.....
Could be a corrupt file somewhere hopefully ;) Good luck

Very strange. Try putting it in window mode then hit alt+enter to full screen it and see what happens then.

I should have said so but I thought it would go without saying alt+enter was the first thing I tried and I've tried it on all the resolutions and monitor freq..it just goes back to windowed with a boarder no matter what Borderless windowed looks like full screen but wont let me enable HDR the real full screen option just looks like a windowed mode and still wont let me enable HDR....

Everything was great before the patch...how do I go back???

There is a file called re7_config.ini in your game directory.

Check it to see if the settings are correct.

FullScreenMode=true
WindowMode=FullScreen

I thought you would have tried it, but this is steam forums so you never can tell. Someone was complaining about the lack of an exit button on here the other day, they even bumped their own thread 6 hours later still complaining about it until I pointed there was an exit button.

no luck yet I checked the config file Mycroft and it was correct still having the problem have just uninstalled the game and now reinstalling... I did verify integrity first but that did not help either. After its back up and running (about halfway done installing now) I'll give it one more go if It's not fixed then I really don't know what else there is to try.

What is the correct number for your FullScreenDisplayMode=### ?
ie mine is :

FullScreenDisplayMode=63 (Thats fullscreen 1920*1080)
FullScreenMode=true
WindowMode=FullScreen

*Just realised you wont be able to check until its reinstalled lol *
In preperation ask around for people with same/similar setup/resolution etc and see if you can find out

And I'll add this just because we have all done silly things at some point......

Check you are changing the .ini for RE7 and not the RE7 DEMO like I was trying at first :D haha

120 and its reinstalled same problem game is busted since the patch why cant i just roll back to the previous version that was working great currently playing with it in borderless to see if i can stand it...but everything is too bright and I can't turn the brightnesd own any further. I need my fullscreen HDR back asap!!

Final thing to suggest, but reinstall would have done this anyway......
Find re7_config.ini, delete and start game. when I do this it resets all options :(

yea I tried that didnt help I also tried the pirate copy to see if that helped it did not, hey I bought the game and it was for testing purposes only!

Also did a complete driver uninstall with DDU in safe mode and restored to previous version from December, even though before patch I was already using the newest driver since day 1 and had no problems with game running perfectly fine.

At this point I see not other solution besides reformat and reinstall of OS and I truly do not want to do that and willl lose my ♥♥♥♥ if it doesnt fix the problem can someone please confirm it's not just me or a way to fix, please!!

Mmmmm..... go to that re7_config.ini file.....make sure fullscreen settings are correct etc etc......
Then save and then properties, change to read only.
Just in case its changing that option on launch?
