If the original package is fine, try opening the file you are going to edit, add just a whitespace somewhere where there is already a whitespace, save the file and try to compile again. If you start getting "syntax error" this means your text editor is not suited for this (like you are editing the file in Word), the editor breaks the encoding or inserts some special characters without you knowing it.
If the editor is fine, then post here what exactly do you change.
I no longer get the syntax error. infact the .err file says all good (not literaly).
But now when I replace the rtq.cht .gen .pht .rht files they game won't open...
Even if i don't change anything and just run rtq_es.bat and then replace the files it still breaks. Shouldn't they be the same file since I didn't change anything? I checked, they are completly different files even tho I changed nothing.

And if i use the 4 compiled rtq files i get the same messed up race meny as grumble314 uploadet a pic of.
PS. I just have to say i get this error no matter what when i try to compile the modkit 1.06d even if i dont change a single sign or space.
Hope some one can give me a hint to what im doing wrong.
1. Download the ModKit 1.06d from this Russ forum site

Unpack to anyfolder you want.
2. Download this CMD exe file. http://www.softwarware.com/forum/download/file.php?id=645
(its allso clean i had it run trough by bitdefender)
And put it in the ModKit folder you just made.
its a compiler that will go trough all the modkitfiles and sort em out in nice folders for easy use.
It will put all the files you need for the mod in the bin folder, copy em rtq files...and remember the lang file its both rus and eng.
Place em in the main game modfolder you have created. And you are good to go.
If you dont know how to make a mod path then go to your dokuments mygames folder and find the Polaris Sector folder. inside you will find the Remember.cfg file, Right after Locale variable,(Language Eng or Rus) insert the line like this: CurrentModPath "MyMods/" This will mean the game will first be looking for the resources in the "MyMods/" subdirectory of the main game directory. So instead of overwriting files, you can put all the modified files there
