Did you beat the upgraded monkey that's on the way to the bonus dungeon? The drop after him lets you get the other item behind the mutually exclusive gold doors.
I'll keep looking at post if I find anything. :)
I also won the game using maxed clogs, and using the hair tie. Nothing new happened.
Last thing I did was try to play the game from the developer's website Satsu, but I couldn't. However comparing the files with the steam version shows the steam version has more content, so I don't believe anything was left out during translation.
Edit: And! You can grab the clogs in a new game. So multiple maxed clogs hardmode NG+, commense! (Your bro also say "!?" when you go to grab the clogs.) Also, the sign hints to take more than 1 "Please take as many pairs as you like! It's an all-you-can-clog!". The only question in my mind is: Is the Dev cruel enough to require multiple maxed clogs. It is possible that using multiple lvl 1 clogs was the intention, however.
Edit: Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, but its possible that the hairtie is the actual hint. I wonder if one of the statues has their hair tied up just checked, none of the statues has their hair tied up, unless I missed one. Might be a hint for something else though.
Also @ Vile, its entirely possible that doing something could teleport/ open a path to one of those inactive pentagrams and activate it. This Dev likes to give hints, but as this is a super secret the hint is going to be just as hard to find as an actual secret. I'm really impressed you beat the end boss with maxed clogs. Would you care to share how? I've managed to get phase 1 to 50% HP but his max HP attack gets me in the end, seems like theres too much RNG to beat the 2nd phase with my current strat stalling for burning agony . Going to try again while maxing effect gear later.
Only other hint I've noticed is the dragon talking about how heavy you are and that you shouldn't eat so many steaks. Besides clogs, this is the only mention of weight in the entire game.
Edit: Just going to keep adding to this post as I notice things. The ghost is missing from the bonus. Beating the bonus with clogs and hairtie is another possibility, as its unlikely most people would load an earlier save to redo the bonus with clogs.
This one isn't super relevant, but the fairy says "I bet you can't find this room at night" for the hidden room with Quick Heal. Its easier to find because the door is painted skyblue. Makes me wonder if any of her dialogue is relevant.. I'll check later if her dialogue changes in "NG+". Alright in the clogs room "The castle is full of secret rooms like this one." I need to check if she says this in any other secret room. She says this in other secret rooms, dead lead.
Theory: Helen needs to lose weight (wait). The hint is telling you to slim down. Clogs are weights (increases wait) for training and are an 'excercising program'. Going to try a "ng+" run while using as many clogs with as many levelups as possible. I'll naturally use more clogs at the start of the run than the end. Run will finish the game once with 1 maxed clogs and then I'll redo the end with no clogs to look for differences. No steaks are allowed period. I'll also use the hairtie the entire game and look at all the fairy and sleepy dailogue. Will probably get the run done in a few days . Run is postponed for now, too many projects..
Just redid the final fight with Yasha. 2nd floor boss uses a different sword, seems slightly stronger than Yasha. I know theres something here.. but what. Maybe only use Yasha to kill all bosses? Looked into the Demon King's fight. If you use "haste" every turn, except for kick to "defend" against his attack and keep using "haste" until your "magic attack" is at time 1, you'll kill him right before his next attack goes off. This is the fastest kill I've found, leaves you with the highest HP and seems intentionally set up to kill him at time: 0. You could also Kick to finish for a slightly faster kill, but the "magic kill" seems too perfect to not have been set up in advance. I'll look at the other fights to see if they are "solvable".
Found a bit of interesting dialogue from the Fairy. She says something akin to "Zack must have missed the monsters here." at the entrance to the Demon King's castle. Seems interesting. I need to clean up this post though sometime. Its so unorganized.. I'll probably get to it after the "NG+" run.
