1) Do the crew reward quests first, avoid all other battles, once you have the 5 crew members you lost, your ship is ready for the seas.
2) Very good point Continu.
3) Never had a problem with buying high quality balls myslef but rusty are half the price.
4) A must if you want to do the fort battles IMO, they have greater range than the forts do so you don't get hit, at all! but do watch out for the ships still.
5) I found this out the hard way, guessing you did too Continu, having to pull back -1100 faction rep takes time.
6) I vary my encounters, attack one round and defend the next, sometimes I like to fight them all as well, more loot for this greedy Cpt.
7) Always try to have both cannon and sail crew's at 120%, better accuracy (roughly 93% if using the narrow spread) and your faster at hitting top speed and a little faster (helps to catch up and get the kill shot on those boats trying to escape you), boarding party crew isn't really needed when using carronade cannon but I always board the last ship that's sailing, more loot for me :)
Ok I've seen a few posts asking this, so here goes.
At the start you do not have pistols (needed to board other ships) so move the crew from the main deck (middle one) and put them into the sails and gun sections by dragging them up or down, max efficency is 120% so try and aim for that in those two sections. You can drag more than one at a time, number of crew being moved will appear at there feet.
As for leveling them up, on the left side there is a big circle on the crew page that has 2 crew members standing in it/Train is writen under them and a number with XP there too, simply drag the crew member from the ship onto the Train circle and let go of the mouse button, this will then move the crew member to the next tier, each tier has a number writen under the crewman indicating how many crew members you have at that level. Tier 1 to tier 2 costs 1xp, T2 to T3 costs 2xp and so on, you can level up more than 1 at a time by moving the mouse to the left and a slide bar will be under there feet showing how many you are trying to level at the same time.
As of now I cant stand still or give full speed and that just wiped me at the Kraken for the ship was running a race instead of carefull manuevering.
Drag the injured crew member upto the deck but you must have the med supplies, these are bought at some ports, not all. You should start out with 10, low tiers require 1 and higher tiers require 2.
Full speed hold w until the sails completly lower, stop hold s untill they no longer show.
I'd like to see half speed beign added
You can not hit top speed with damaged sails.
Foggy Harbour, 3 star port, 2400p
No worries, I'd of mentioned the mods but wasn't sure how well off you were, Mizandrain Rope is the other one for the second mod slot.
Experience of the crew seems to affect the amounts and frequeny of gold you receive from ship battles.
If you side with a particular flag and win against the pirates frequently, it seems to have an affect on the strength of that flag's navy. After a lot of wins, using the option to fight the battle automatically almost always results in the allied flag winning the battle. Good way to stock up on gold and goods.
