Boarding Ships

Hey, first of all i love this game but since the new update and the new boarding system I am unable to start a boarding the usual way. I know the old system to start a boarding: Get close aside the enemy ship and push the hook button. All simple. But since the update the hook wont show up no matter what i do...what am i missing?

You need to disable their ship first. Take out their sails. But it would also be a good idea to do some crew damage before boarding too

Questions, how do you win? I did used deadly shaped to make way, way less, in middle of 3 bar, first, I take first bar (sail heath point) to nothing with chained cannaon, then I use deadly sharpe, to get middle bar to very low while my bar red is high with icon with musket bouns, officer's bouns, had armors 2 but taken 1 armors down, for more damage, yet I still lost?

Is it possible to make it so that going into the orange circle doesn't automatically board enemy ship? Meaning, is it possible to make it so that the enemy ship can be boarded when my ship is in the orange circle, maybe by clicking a popup button?( I see the grappling hook button every now and then but it's not always there.)

Because if it's auto-board once in the circle, that's not nice if I accidentally run into it before killing off 90% of enemy's crew. Sometimes I just want to swap from being at enemy's stern to being in front of its bow (the front), and shield myself as I pass by, but with the circles in the way, I cannot do that. Sometimes enemy can even "bring the circle" to me by turning around.

+1 for this. Manual boarding toggle in options would be ideal

Can someone explain to me how the boarding system works please because I boarded a ship who had 160 crew strenght and I had 640 but i lose..
