Starting a Solo/Offline Game
Searching the forum, I see lots of posts saying it's easy to play solo/offline. I'm finding it pretty near impossible. The game default to Auto/Connected, and people start joining me... which is exactly what I don't want.

I've tried over and over to Create/Join a new game, but the software goes off into never-never land for many minutes, with a little rotating comet thing marking time. I've let it run for up to 10 minutes, hoping it will eventually create a game and let me choose offline. Nope.

Any suggestions? Is there an offline/solo mode, or are all those older posts now out of date?

It seems Auto is the wrong setting. I picked US, and Create/Join succeeded. I guess it was trying to contact China or something.

The game then claimed "Quests not available in Tournament mode." But quitting and restarting seemed to clear that problem.

Oddly, my progress from a previous multiplayer session has been carried over, even though I changed my profile name and deleted the Tempest registry key, as suggested elsewhere in these forums. I'm not complaining... saves me re-doing a bunch of stuff. However, I'm still not 100% sure I'm actually offline. I thought I was offline once before, and people started joining me.

Tempest has a pile of fun in it, but also an equal pile of bugs, glitches and downright weirdness. I guess the fun is worth digging for, but so far, I've done quite a bit of digging.

Hi Hi -- I don't have physical access to the game right now but iirc: In the Map, Click the Globe Icon (with the Auto/US above it) and uncheck "Join automatically" and then I believe you can also leave the current online match as well. Once you do this, you should be on the Offline Mode/Solo Mode.

I will have to double check when I get home if I am accurate or not

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I now have Join Automatically un-checked, but I'll double-check. I now have four options in the Globe menu: Tournament Mode, Find Game on Startup, Find Random Game and Create or Join Game. None of these is checked.

But the Globe itself still says "AUTO," even though I previously selected "US," and "Connected," even though I'm trying to play solo/local.

Just got back in game, and you are definitely correct. Looks like Tempest is not DRM-Free (Have to be online to have access). Looks like there is no way to play on LAN or Local/Offline as you have to atleast be connected to their host server to get your profile data.

This being said -- You are still able to play solo, just not offiline solo :c

Good input, thanks. Luckily, we can count on Lion's Shade being in business forever, so no worries about the game going dark at some point!

Oh yeah!
You are correct, and you can bet I don't have any plans to stop playing Tempest!

I know I'm excited for the next DLC and the patches that come with it haha
