Controller input stopped working

My controller (Xbox 1) does not seem to be recognised by the game anymore. I was unable to use the controller in the menus, but since it worked for the racing I didn´t mind, but now no matter what it just does not seem to work anymore.

I verified the game files, tried changing the controls on start up (which also did not work) and the controller works perfectly fine in other games.

Does anyone have a similar problem or maybe even a way to fix it?
