how do you add mods?

i want to install some mods, one of them is ''classic dreadnoughts 1.00v '' but i can make them work. i installed them in the files of the game, but still nothing.
can anyone tell me how to make mods work on steam?

Make sure you've extracted the files from the .zip file they probably came in. This should give you a folder called Classic Dreadnoughts v1.00. In that folder is another another folder with the same name. In THAT folder you should see folders named 'Classic DNs', 'data' and 'History of the Classic Dreadnoughts'. The History folder is just stories about how the Dreadnought-class ships were developed. You may or may not find them interesting to read, but they're not necessary to run the mod. Move or copy the other two folders ('Classic DNs' and 'data') into the game's folder (wherever Steam installs games - on my system it's in Steam\Steamapps\Common\Gratuitous Space Battles). This is the folder that contains the GSB app and GSB Manual file. The Classic DNs folder needs to be placed in this location. The data folder needs to be merged with the data folder that's already there.
When you've done this, the game should recognise the mod.
