Stuck in the church!

SPOILERS if you haven't played

Just like in my youth, I'm stuck in the church. Just finishing Jeremy's story, watched the event in the church, and although it techically ended, the swirly lights are just sitting there, can't get out the door. I'm stuck! Have I missed something or is this a bug? I'm guessing I'm going to have to quit and restart but the game hasn't saved me for like an hour!

Did you figure it out?

I walked out after jeremy's story when I played last night, but when I continued this morning I was back in the church with locked doors and had to go out through the back of the church.

After the end of Jeremy's story, the door you came into locks and you have to go out the back door - there should be a path of lights on the ground to follow. If *both* doors are locked then that would be a bug.

No path of lights appeared, and the back door was locked too. :(

Path of lights, event in the church? Do you mean the candles at the end of the pews? I've been through this part twice and I never had and event in the church. There were conversations at the church gate, nothing els.

Then you're missing one of the other events in that chapter; you can't trigger the chapter ending unless you've got that story arc's previous steps.

No doubt ewan, I wonder what I missed? I feel I was thorough up to that point. It isn't exactly easy to track your progress in the game.

I also went in the church and found nothing. Left wandered for awhile, found other story elements and returned to have the church "unlock".

I went to the church, heard Jeremy's story outside of the church, and went in, I could not activate that ball of light at the altar, and the back door to the church was locked. Very frustrating, as I have no idea what I missed.

I have the exact same problem, and the answers so far do not address this.

If you go into the small back room and reemerge you see a ball of light as well as the candles. Go in and out slowly and you see the ball of light. But that seem to be it.
