Easter egg: A secret path to the outskirts of Yaughton
I obviously found an easter egg in EGttR: A secret path through a hidden "hole" in one of the bush hedges around the Yaughton/Tipwirth area. Those hedges and fences normally prevent users from e.g. taking a walk through BlackDog Run Valley or strolling around Haverton Waters. To be clear: This is not about opening console and switching NoClip on - the outskirts can be reached by normal walking, w/o any hack or cheat.

I don't know if the developers clandestinely placed an easter egg ("let's see how long it takes until one of those smart alecs ...") or if this is just flaw they would like to learn about ... just to fix it by patch.

Before maybe disclosing my findings in this thread, I would would like to:
(1) See if there is any interest at all from other EGttR players
(2) Give the developers the chance to tell us their opinion / feeling

Just a final remark: Closing this "gap" would be a pity, as even the "forbidden world" around Yaughton's gorgeous scenery is designed with great devotion, containing much more details than needed for a normal far-distance viewer.

We'd love to read your interpretation of what you saw/found beyond the game's boundaries :)

We're unlikely to issue a patch for a hole in a hedge, so rest assured your private spot in Yaughton will remain accessible!

There's definitely going to be interest - there certainly has been in the past for getting out of the map.

There's a fairly well-know route (at least on the PS4 version) that involves going to the end of one of the lanes in Yaughton with a police Land Rover just past the a fence and hopping from the kerb to the top of a traffic cone, but it sounds like this one gets you out the other side of the map.

I've poked around for hours looking for ways to get to places off the map.. Like the caravan in the paddock behind the community hall.. I'd love to know where this hole is...

Forgot to mention: As you cannot save during your long, long(!) journey around the official game world, it is advisable to at least create a manual save point at the framed map at Yaughton Pond, see step (1) above.
Another hint: Walking round the observatory is the fastest way to approach Yaughton "from the other side of the hedges". But do not come too close to the observatory area, as this would trigger a daytime switch to darkest night! This cannot be recovered by running away, so you would need to start at Yaughton Pond once again.

To make it complete: Here are some of my favourite shots from beyond game's boundaries. Especially I like approaching the Tipworth railroad crossing from the north, observing this terrific weather change from bright sunshine to this sinister red sunset:

I took that path myself and got an ass full of Shot Gun Lead for my Troubles. I had to drop my Sandwitches and Flask of Tea and make a run for it. They should have warned us about the Angry Farmer that lives off the trail and his Crazy Chainsaw Family. Yaughton has been hiding these mutants for years, in fact, "The Moment" refused to take them out of fear which is why they are still there. Yaughton has Eyes my friends....run for your lives!!!!

Yes you CAN save it...allbeit by technicality that is.....Go to the caravan park area behind the windmil and trigger the conversation at the Fence when Lizzy confronts Kate. This automatically saves the game in the usual way. It works I promise!!

wow.. i've finished Obsuction three times now and then i thought, i wonder if anyone ever 'broke through' into the Nether World of Shropshire..? so i followed the notations above and indeed it is possible.. and very creepy, almost voyeuristic. and seeing details i'd not expected, architecture that has been yet unmapped, seeing 'life' from over the hedge, as it were, roads that dissolve into landscape... what an adventure.. after i've had a good walk around i will approach the Observatory to see if it does indeed plunge me into the Rapturous Darkness.. so strange not being able to re-join the original game at any point along the way. an invisible traveller. will try to collect some screengrabs along the way..

AND i have accidentally slipped BACK INTO the game.. while approaching the railway station along where the tracks start to appear under some electrical scaffold riggings i came upon some rocks overlooking the road after the brick overpass and waterfall.. traversing the rocks out of interest i slipped down the rocks above one of the power terminals near a set of steps down to the road... down the stairs just before the Switching Station (i've lost my shoe..!) and now i can't get back up the rocks, given i slid down them. oops. so, back to the Pond...

Yeah I found that one too ny accident, Had to go the long way round again. Must admit though that the further I go out of the Gaming area the more Creepy And Surreal things get.

All makes it more fun somehow. Writers should have put some stuff 'out there' for the escapees to marvel over like a game hidden within a game... now thats an idea.
Did you find those completely Square Hedgerows yet and the Barns that Float above the ground?
cameradogdan Dec 25, 2016 @ 10:46pm
yes, found floating hollow houses and barns. but the real discovery is walking through the big lake next to the campground and seeing the paddle boats from underneath.
being outside the game was like life after death.. you wanted to influence things 'inside' but couldnt. even learning how to approach the Observatiry and seeing it all lit up at night from 'outside' was very surreal.
i truly love this game. i want more.

One of the barns outside the Train Station has a hole in it, if you go through you drop down a few hunderd feet and you can see the whole village from the bottom up. It's really surreal.
