Playing With a Keyboard
I really wanna play this and dont own a controller.
The controls are meant for french (fair enough the company is french)
but it doesnt allow me to change the controls as some of the keys are already in use and cant be removed.
Also I dont think it registers changes.(so changing one of the controls to amke way for a key is pointless)

I can't believe it but yes, it does not allow you to change controls in any way on the keyboard. Although it say press any key, when you press it a sounds come up, but visually the keys stay the same. And as you saiod when it comes to a key that is already in use you can't do anything... But the original control scheme is atrocious!! unplayable.

Aren't gamepads standard equipment for every serious gamer, even on PC since at least 1993 (when the Gravis Gamepad came out, i remember it being all the rage back then, it was like a revolution to finally have a gamepad on pc for plattforming games)
Amazing how some PC gamers act like it's still 1984, not even a joystick around, just a keyboard. I mean i played old Dos racing games with Keyboard but it's a mess. Digital input (1 or 0) over Analog (various differences) is like night and day and makes a HUGE difference in those type of games, let alone it's more comfortable.

I'm using keyboard and I do gaming exactly since 1993. Keboard was always my primary controller, and I do much better with a keyboard in games than with a gamepad. I never liked gamepads... I do have 2 gamepads, anyway, one has directional input stick broken (does not register movement) and the other one has problems with the L1 button, since it fell on the floor. I opened it and fixed it, but it's not as good as when it was new. Controllers break too often IMO, but also for me it's just not confortable. The arrangment of the buttons and so on... Keyboard is for the win all the way, and if the game also uses mouse, then it's a godlike combination. But I can imagine you're playing even FPS games with a controller, and let me tell you, it looks funny :D

I have an xbox controller but it doesnt work no more

Thanks that helped, but now I have keys that conflict... like every time I turn left the with A the horn starts beeping... pretty annoying :D

Edit: the word in the line I found for horn is actually "klaxon", the swerve key is called "lurch" in the code line and the trick button is called "stunt".

...LOL I still can't believe the devs were that incapable of implementing proper key customization, or that they cared in any way to make a fix, what a shame!

Even if the control scheme can be customized with the workaround, it's still a pretty awful game to play. I played a few days and I just gave up, I remember... But I loved the previous titles in the past.

Drive using arrows
Rotate (up / down) using Left Ctrl / Left Shift
Q=Taunt, W=Look back, E=Horn
A=Wheelie, S=Swerve, D=Trick

Trick (Dirt) = is a SWERVE
Swerve = is a Trick (Dirt)

Didn't you read any of the messages in the thread? There is a fix right above your message by arczi. The menu in the game is broken and you can't really change sh!t from there as far as controls go.
