Cute, Cuddly, Curative arena challenge help
I just can't figure out how to do enough damage to outdamage his heal... he's electric and there are 2 earth attacks on the party, so I try chaining those, I've tried casting inspire before chaining them, but then recasting inspire usually just makes me lose ground on his hp, and as far as I can tell Sara is just useless for this fight other than the fact that Drip may do some light passive damage (I haven't been having her cast any spells, I stay alive well enough because I don't think the wisp even attacks). I think I'm doing fine as far as keeping the streak alive.

I've also tried ignoring inspire and just trying to get an attack off while the 2 earth casters cool down, but I usually lose ground on the HP there too.

It's making me feel really stupid but I just can't figure out how I should be able to outdamage this... am I missing something strategy wise or am I just not executing it well enough?

I am playing on medium right now btw, I considered maybe on hard I can cast spells faster, but it seems like the game accomodates for that and he heals faster, and I can hit notes almost perfectly on medium so I am trying on medium for now.

I managed to beat this by the skin of my teeth after completing the third area and leveling up the characters' skills to have them do more damage.

Wait really? My impression was that these arena challenges had fixed character power levels to prevent trivializing the challenge - which is why all my abilities were doing a couple hundred in this challenge, while my main party hits in the thousands. Someone confirm please?

Hey Unicorn,

You're exactly right. Aside from some rare (boldly noted) exceptions, the parties in Arena Mode are fixed and at a set level.

The key is: Pile on all at once and Stun
My basic flow is generally:

1) Inspire
2) Abandon
3) Stun
4) Splash
2) Abandon

If that doesn't get you done, repeat and try again, as if new.

Remember, this guy is weak to Earth, so that's a big key. And the stun, timed right, can help you get 1-2 more attacks in than you otherwise might. Rumble, imo, isn't worth it. I'd Splash.

Inspire is key!

Thanks for the help! I haven't done it yet but I have realized a fatal flaw in my original strategy - I didn't know shock was a stun! I think that will probably make a big difference. I knew there must be a reason Sara was in the party...

Edit: Aaaand I got it first try. I knew I was being dumb somehow. When you said stun I was about to say "But Gwen isn't in this party!"

In Hard mode, what I did to beat the enemy in 43.37 seconds:
1) Inspire.
2) Shock, overcast it as long as possible without making it turn into Grin.
3) Abandon, go to 2).

There might be some quicker strategies, since this strategy involves waiting for the characters to be ready to attack again. Any strategy I tried that involved attacking with either Wade or Violet didn't work well for me.
