The final boss was disappointing, but not bad.

Very entertaining, well worth the price. The challenges are fun if you're ready to grind for a while.

A fun "puzzle" game where you have to use your zombies and their abilities to kill all the humans required. Hard at times, challenging, arcadey and with awesome pixel art.

nope. game works but only run at 640 resolution and you can't change it....the option to change it is there but it reverts back instantly. broken mess...avoid.

Zombie Night Terror is a solid singleplayer puzzler whose generic name and gory theme mildly mis-represent it as an action game. Don’t be fooled by the occasional few levels’ pitched battles with humans and chain reactions of spreading contagion; the large majority of ZNT will be spent puzzling your horde’s path through a linear series of obstacles. Although some light platforming is needed, the game offers the ability to pause and issue commands; making this very much a challenge not for your reflexes but your braaainnnssss.

If you’re on board with the premise, ZNT boasts a generous campaign of 50 short and varied levels, lots of thoughtful touches, great pixel art and a fabulous soundtrack. Though the game arguably features its best ideas in the first half of the campaign, and its repetitive play has an inherent tendency to frustration, the devs do their best to minimise this with instant restarts and a transparent UI. Some checkpointing would have helped, especially on the harsher later levels. Though the puzzling never becomes revelatory, the more challenging levels are certainly satisfying to conquer. The game is arguably at its best, however, when it cuts the horde some slack to crash, sneak or infect its way through non-linear defensive fortifications.

ZNT is also mostly well-deserved by its art. The monochrome-with-splashes-of-colour pixels are handsome and easy to read, and the soundtrack is wonderful. A throwaway narrative of zombie apocalypse brings some structure to the campaign without outstaying its welcome, while playing host to numerous not-so-subtle nods to pop culture. The tone is irreverent without quite being silly, though the artists’ evident fondness for the female body does lend proceedings a puerile air at times.

An unusual and well-executed platform puzzler, ZNT is held back from being an underrated gem only by a few too many moments of punishing repetition and opaque design. Though inessential, its easy to recommend as a solid 12 hour singleplayer campaign, and more if you wish to sink your teeth into the level editor and optional extra challenges.
