Bitdefender antivirus says up2p.dll is infected with Gen:Variant.Razy.408874
Don't want to blame anyone. It might be a false positive. Anyway should be solved somehow.

I read that it's a mining malware.

Oh, also I didn't mention that the game doesn't run without that file.
Same here - can't run the game...

Hello, same problem here!
Is an update or anything on its way? Unable to launch the game too and want to be sure not to allow anything risky.

uP2P.dll is the library file that contains all of the networking calls that the game needs to run online. Unfortunately the game cannot run without it, because offline mode is essentially the online mode run locally.

This is most likely a false positive, as the game hasn't been updated in months and BitDefender is only detecting it now. I'll raise it with the team that did the networking, but I'm not sure if we can fix it since it depends on BitDefender's virus definitions.

We actually had a similar problem with our first game, Rogue Legacy, when it first came out. Some random updated virus definition suddenly detected the game as a virus, and it took a few days for the anti-virus company to fix it.

Thank you for the reply. Personally, I do believe that its a false positive. I even turned the protection down in order to play with my mates. Hopefully, nothing happened (no suspicious behavior after that). But to launch the game I had to reinstall steam and the game.

If that is a problem not on your side, can you please report it to BitDefender team. A report from a game studio would have a bigger priority than from a regular user, I guess.

G DATA Internet Security also shows it as malware.

Hi again, disabled Bitdefender before it blocks the access to the file so that I can run VirusTotal on it. 17 positive, not sure this is normal...

Game uninstalled for now, can it please be updated regarding this issue ?
Haven't been able to play yet.

We have isolated what is triggering the virus alert, and we can indeed confirm it is a false positive. Currently we're looking into ways to prevent this from happening, rather than contacting every single anti-virus provider and asking them to whitelist us. We have a few options, and we hope to have a solution soon.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This still appears to be an issue, it's being detected by Webroot and I can't install the game.

I don't have this game yet, so I can't say for certain; but I have bitdefender and a common occurrence is flagging almost any program that creates/modifies files in the 'my documents' folders. I've seen this personally with half a dozen games. The only way to get them to work is okaying the program's access through bitdefender as a computer administrator.
It goes without saying, but only do it if you trust the program/game.
