We just released patch 1.0.3 a few days ago which has fixed a large amount of the network bugs people were complaining about on day one.

i think all the bugs have been fixed.
If you've played other co-op games with your friends and haven't had much issues, it's very possible that this game will be pick up and play without issues just the same. At least that was the case for me. :Shrugs:
And if you're a fan of Rogue Legacy, this is a hard title to pass up as it's another quality title from Cellar Door Games in my opinion. Granted it's different from Rogue Legacy, but quality nonetheless.
I think we started playing after the 1.0.2 patch though so most potential issues were already gone.
We've had a few minor glitches in the UI that needed to restart the game to get the steam overlay to work. This was on initial game load. The overlay is needed as the invite system requires it.
Which is actually pretty badly designed from Valve/Steam as it can't use the controller as far as I know.
Also once in a while we have mobs being knocked just outside the screen. We haven't had to restart a mission yet due to it though. Usually an area of effect ability/stun/knock up will hit the mob and kill it or cause it to re-enter the screen.
So overall an extremely nice experience. Really well done!
I had the same problem with my controller too. If you go into your Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings, and turn on the checkmark for your respective gamepad, the overlay will switch to a big-picture style, which will allow you to invite/join players using only the controller.
We've also isolated some issues with enemies getting knocked out that we hope to fix for next patch.
Thanks for the tip! I remember turning that setting off ages ago ... for some compatibility reason with some game, but then I just left it of. Let's see if whatever problem it caused has since been fixed
.. and very good news about the fix :)
I'd like to note that you don't actually need to have the overlay active to join a friend's lobby. In other words, a friend creates a lobby, you can then proceed to minimize/alt-tab your game, right click on their name on the Steam Friends list, and click "join game".
I personally don't play with the Steam overlay active so this is my preferred method of joining others in co-op in this particular title.
Sounds like an issue on your end. This game hasn't been updated in years from what I gather. Last patch was in February of 2019.
Perhaps a windows update changed your settings in regards to something important? Perhaps the person you were playing with had connection/firewall issues? Sounds like it might be something to troubleshoot, but I haven't played the game in ages so I couldn't tell you, unfortunately. Best of luck to you regardless.
It only cropped up toward the end of our gaming session, so there's really no sense in spending more time troubleshooting an issue than playing the game.
