How's the multiplayer?
I've seen a lot of complaints about the multiplayer being buggy at the moment for some people while others have reported that they've had no issues with it. This game looks like the perfect coop game to play with your friends but if the online netcode is unstable then I might have to wait on this game until the issue gets fixed.

Hey Nepugia,

We just released patch 1.0.3 a few days ago which has fixed a large amount of the network bugs people were complaining about on day one.

I hope your (real) friends will buy it too, they don't seems to plan to add public multiplayer anytime soon.

Been playing with a friend the last two days, very smooth for us. We only had one bug (out of 10+ hours of play) where a boss got stuck at the top of the screen after we launched him up there, but restarting the map took care of it.

While I've not played with three others (Four players) in multi-player, I personally haven't really had much issues with multi-player while playing with another person (Two players). And the game has received quite a number of patches to fix issues people were having with the game.

If you've played other co-op games with your friends and haven't had much issues, it's very possible that this game will be pick up and play without issues just the same. At least that was the case for me. :Shrugs:

And if you're a fan of Rogue Legacy, this is a hard title to pass up as it's another quality title from Cellar Door Games in my opinion. Granted it's different from Rogue Legacy, but quality nonetheless.

I have 18 hours of online coop played sofar, only 2 players, but across the atlantic.
I think we started playing after the 1.0.2 patch though so most potential issues were already gone.

We've had a few minor glitches in the UI that needed to restart the game to get the steam overlay to work. This was on initial game load. The overlay is needed as the invite system requires it.
Which is actually pretty badly designed from Valve/Steam as it can't use the controller as far as I know.

Also once in a while we have mobs being knocked just outside the screen. We haven't had to restart a mission yet due to it though. Usually an area of effect ability/stun/knock up will hit the mob and kill it or cause it to re-enter the screen.

So overall an extremely nice experience. Really well done!

@Dr. Hemmel

I had the same problem with my controller too. If you go into your Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings, and turn on the checkmark for your respective gamepad, the overlay will switch to a big-picture style, which will allow you to invite/join players using only the controller.

We've also isolated some issues with enemies getting knocked out that we hope to fix for next patch.

@Cellar Door Games

Thanks for the tip! I remember turning that setting off ages ago ... for some compatibility reason with some game, but then I just left it of. Let's see if whatever problem it caused has since been fixed

.. and very good news about the fix :)

I'd like to note that you don't actually need to have the overlay active to join a friend's lobby. In other words, a friend creates a lobby, you can then proceed to minimize/alt-tab your game, right click on their name on the Steam Friends list, and click "join game".

I personally don't play with the Steam overlay active so this is my preferred method of joining others in co-op in this particular title.

Hi, sorry. probably this question might not be one that should be done here. but i can´t find other place to make it. how can I multiplaye locally? just connect 4 controllers to my pc? If I want to play with my sons at my house, I assume I need multiple copies of the game?

Playing this last year I had zero issues with MP. Playing it yesterday, we did have issues. I'm not sure what "fix" was intended, but it actually seems to not work as well now.

Sounds like an issue on your end. This game hasn't been updated in years from what I gather. Last patch was in February of 2019.

Ah, you're right. I didn't realize the January update was from years ago. Nothing changed here though. The odd thing is that when there was an issue the game would give some pop-up about joining one of the players' lobby or game or whatever... but I was the host.

Perhaps a windows update changed your settings in regards to something important? Perhaps the person you were playing with had connection/firewall issues? Sounds like it might be something to troubleshoot, but I haven't played the game in ages so I couldn't tell you, unfortunately. Best of luck to you regardless.

Maybe. It's strange that the game would say we were joining/connecting to someone else's lobby than the person hosting though, no?

It only cropped up toward the end of our gaming session, so there's really no sense in spending more time troubleshooting an issue than playing the game.
