Heavy Gear Assault

Hey Gearheads. Surprised to see you still floating around.
I did a thing. It may have been a waste of time but I tried sending an email to DP9, but all I could find was an email for the retail manager or something like that. SO I'll let you know if something comes of it. The email (in case you are wondering) is for an rdubois@dp9.com if you guys want to send something.

UPDATE: So Mr. Dubois got back to me. I can share the what he was able to share with me, so I'll drop that down here for you guys to look at. Apparently DP9 is quite displeased with this mess too.

"We are not happy how this turned out. Things happened without our knowledge and when we did find out until there was really nothing we could do. Our lawyers ended the licensing agreement because of breach in terms and neither BlocPlay or Stompybot Productions has any rights to continue with Heavy Gear Assault or any other Heavy Gear game. We can’t go into more details than that, but after to talking to BlocPlay Heavy Gear Assault is pretty well dead. Emails were sent to Steam asking them to remove the game, but not replied to, good luck at trying to contact anyone there.

We have decided to not license another HG computer or smart phone game in the future unless Dream Pod 9 is a partner and has final control over it.

Sincerely,
Robert Dubois
President Dream Pod

I wish they said this more publicly. It sucks the way things turned out. I never really played Assault but playing Heavy Gear 1 and 2 was a lot of fun. Those games are underrated.

Yeah. I never played the first one. They should have been more public, but they have been working on more for the table-top game.

What were the terms that were violated? Why can't negotiations be reinstated so something can happen? Sounds like someone with ulterior motives just wanted to can the game because they realized there was still value in the IP and wants to take it over for themselves. The ironic thing is that neither side seems to realize that if the two parties don't work together, the only one who is profiting are the attorney's involved in the lawsuit. They might of found more success if they would simply work together. Whichever side feels like their "terms" were violated needs to humble themselves and learn a little thing called forgiveness and then promptly practice it.

The people who were developing the game were laid off and kicked from the company that was supposed to develop the game.
The company in question went from being a software company, to a 'we are our own launcher'-company, to some kind of gaming zone company, to pennystock scams, to crypto coins, and more.

If we were talking about a developer/publisher who had shown ANY sign of activity or progress for the last, like, two years or so, I'd maybe be ready to give them the benefit of the doubt. But that's not what happened here. This game has been radio silent for years, this isn't some tiny delay in production or technical snag or something. There is no way they're acting in good faith at this point.

As it is, this game is just dragging the IP through the mud, and there's nothing DP9 can do to force the devs finish it, so pulling the plug sounds like the only option to me.

Just a WHOLE LOT of wishful thinking.. At least until you consider that the last so called "Update" was made in May of 2018.. That's over 2.5 years of DEAD game services..
