PS4 - Local multiplayer requiring two PlayStation Plus subs

It would appear that when two players log in for local multiplayer, both of us are required to have paid PlayStation Plus accounts to play online. Without two paying accounts, it's forcing us to play offline only.

It's crazy to force both local players to pay for annual accounts. Am I missing something? It didn't do this in the beta.

The whole reason my husband and I wanted to play this game was to couch co op and play doubles online or with friends. If we can't do that without paying for another account.. we lose the main reason we were stupidly excited for this game.

Puhleeeaase tell me this is either us overlooking something or not intended.

My understanding is that the account with a PS+ subscription needs to have the PS4 activated as its primary console. Once you've done this, I believe that the PS+ subscription is shared across all other users on the console for the purposes of online play.

Ohhh! Thank god. Okay that does totally make sense in how it's affecting us then.
We just upgraded to the Pro and traded our last console in, so that is still set as our primary. We'll have to call PlayStation and get that sorted out. We'd completely forgotten that we didn't do that transfer.
