How to Refund Starting Skill Point?

How do I get back the first skill point the game automatically gives my character? For example the Alchemist get's 1 point into ember bolt right away automatically. How can I refund that point and put it to use some place else other than Ember Bolt? Is this even possible?

No, it's not possible. You cannot respec any of your skill points on this game unless you find a mod to let you do that.

I don't see any Steam mods for this game, but there is a Torchlight Fan Site that has some:

You can do your own internet search for other sites with mods. I didn't really do a thorough search. This is just the first place I found. Most sites tend to think you are looking for Torchlight 2 stuff, so make sure it says the mods are for Torchlight 1, or do an in-site search for Torchlight 1 mods.

Ah. I will just ignore it then. I was just wondering if there was a way that doesn't require any sort of modding.

I recall something about a respec potion that was actually a mod made by the devs (seems really silly to me, why not just patch it in?), for what it's worth.

It's fine. I will just work with it as it is. I was only asking because I know in Torchlight 2 they added a refund option for skill points. Maybe I was just confusing Torchlight 1 and 2.

Either way, I am fine with not being able to respec and won't be looking to add any sort of mods or anything.

You can generate respec potion without mods, just need to edit settings. Then enable in game console and type: respecPotion. Here's video on how to do that: https://youtu.be/oIBLAtXoN_Y
But I think that even after using this potion that 1 point stays in this skill and you cannot recover it.

So... it's not really a respec? It's just a console command the developers used to do the respec? Is that right?

I respeced my skill points with a respec potion (I followed the guide in the video which was posted here). I took the potion and it resetted, but this one single skill you have from the very beginning of the game stays lol, even with the respec potion that 1 one skill point doesn't get resetted lol.

Correct. There is always the starting skill point you can't reset.

Thank you. I thought this would be like in Torchlight 2 where you can also respec the first point.

I love that game so far, to be honest, makes even a little bit more fun than Torchlight 2 :D , but maybe that's just the beginning.
