Let's talk about proficiencies (skills)
So a lot of people have been complaining about this game, and i know, it's not perfect. But it do has a certain charm which makes me come back every one in a while. But there's still something in this game which i can't wrap my head around, and that's the skills.

In most games, aquiring a skill makes you more powerfull. It let's you choose between multiple interesting skills, and you can choose which one you want to suit your playstyle. But RAID doesn't have this. Example: You can choose between more health, quicker lockpicking, and more LMG damage. And i'd like to point out that grabbing the quicker lockpicking doesn't help that much if you want more survivability. So, if you are running an LMG build, you NEED to pick up that extra LMG damage to get the most out of it. Which means you cannot grab a health boost, which some people call 'balancing', well i call it 'no fun to make a build' Because when you've grabbed 1 skill, you cannot go back and grab another one. You have to choose between 3 new, different skills. Why? Why can't i go back and grab that other skill? It's not like these skilltree's are OP.

Also, why are weapon damage skills even in the skilltree at all? Don't we have these special thingies which we can add to our weapon after completing certain challanges to enhance our weapons? Then why do we have skills as well for this?

I'd rather see RAID completely revamp the skilltree to something more simple, so there's room for more interesting skills. For example:

Why not give a player 1 attribute point per level, and 1 skillpoint every 5 levels. Attribute points can be assigned to increase HEALTH, SPEED or STAMINA. Remove the damage increasing skills, and create less but more interesting passive AND active skills.

I know this isnt the best idea, but it's something. I hate the skilltree how it is now, and i really think the game could've been more popular if they had a good skilltree which included many playstyles. I'm just trying to help, and maybe get some good reactions from people who want to help as well. And even though this game isn't my favorite, i keep comming back. And i'd love to come back to a more enjoyable game.

Or they could do like PD:TH and a level means 1 upgrade you can't even chose.
Seriously, I have 3 things to say.
First, this belong in Suggestion&Feedback subforum/
Secondly, the skill tree is kinda good, but paying to retrain proficiencies is BS and don't allow a flexible gameplay about testing skills.
Thirdly, NO ACTIVE SKILLS PLEASE, WE ALREADY HAVE A WARCRY AND IT'S ENOUGH.
Also, git gud, Tough Customer is way better than LMG expert, and I'm 95% sure it is completly useless to grab every single dmg boost you see as you won't meet much more breakpoints. We'd need a enemy health table to be sure about that. Oh well, if somebody is kind enough to drop one or point me one, I'll try to see.

I think that the minor boosts are enough right now. We have Warcries. It's OP enough.

From experience, weapon damage proficiencies are utterly useless since this isn't a game with bulletsponges. At best you probably could kill flamers with one less bullet.
Simply getting weapon damage upgrades and headshot multiplier proficiencies is enough in most cases.

If anything the skill trees are no-brainers and noob traps since everytime you can choose between 2 useless skills and 1 great skill.

It's funny. When I suggested allowing a player to reset a character to level 1 in order to start gaining a second set of proficiencies, the +damage proficiencies were used as the example of why it would be too overpowered (I agree with you, btw, I just don't think they're that powerful). The fact that the skill trees are [mostly] no-brainers is why I wanted this option in the first place. Right now, everyone takes the good skill at every tier and the other skills may as well not even exist. Having the option to go back and pick up those skills as well would let them actually see some use. Because the other skills tend to be considerably weaker, the overall power creep is tiny.

I wouldn't mind such system as part of a prestige feature, as long as difficulty equally increases with prestige levels.
