to understnd it, you: 1)should have played outlast 1 whistle blower and found the letter about pregnant women. 2) find the letters near the lake that talk about behaviour.
I did. I played both Outlast 1 and Whistleblower, and got all achievements in both, which meant I collected every note and file, and yes, I read them all. I did remember the psychological pregnancies caused by the morphogenic engine, but I didn't think that this and Lynn's "baby" were related at all because as far as I knew, these games weren't conected. And yeah, I did try to get every file in my first Outlast 2 playthrough, because I like to explore a lot, but I admit that towards the final areas, I wasn't paying that much attention, but I still blame that on the game's pacing, because the ending stretches out too much and I wast just kinda urging to finish it. Also, there's just the chance that I missed some stuff, I didn't want to look at any guides before, and I wanted it to be as blind of an experience as it could be. Still, moving on.
It turns out that some conections are only explained in the comics released by Red Barrels, and while I like games having extra media with more story, I don't like it when they're sort of mandatory to get the full picture, specially because Outlast 2 never makes it clear that its a sequel to some of those. I knew those comics existed but I actually wanted to read them AFTER playing Outlast 2, once I finished the entire trilogy, because that's what I thought they were: Extra bits on the story (and I specially thought they were limited to the first game and Murkoff corp. only). So, yeah, the comics are really cool and make stuff clearer, but I still don't like how everything was structured. And...
Back to you. Its not, really. If you don't want the comics spoiled, ignore me I guess, but everything's explained there and it turns out that the white flashes of light are coming from some radio towers from Murkoff corp., and they're designed to cause hallucinations and some other strange stuff. The entire village is some sort of twisted mental experiment. And the "sun" explosion is actually the Walrider destroying said towers. The reason why we, as Blake, see it as the sun, is because Blake himself is already completely nuts due to the microwaves from the towers. That's also why he kept having those weird dream sequences with Jessica and Loutermilch. And the baby wasn't real, by the way. It and the pregnancy were nothing more than hallucinations.
Ohhh that makes sense , thanks alot dude :)
I have never read the comics and I figured it out after I played the game for a second time. However while I was visiting red barrels website for a outlast sequel, I read that there's something in the comics that suggests the moment Blake sees the sun exploding is the very same time one of the towers explodes. The tower exploding is never mentioned in the game.
