Report a translation problem
The game is supposedly taking place over one or two nights? And the game is trying to exhaust you by throwing you into so many ridiculous situations during that time frame. So being constantly taken out of that experience worked against its of own theme of, well... outlasting something. I would've much preferred if the school parts were one big flashback. It also makes it tough to replay the game I feel.
Them increasing in number and intensity as the end got closer was part of the story and overall experience.
You knew those sections were part past memories and part hallucinations, which means there was no actual threat there.
Which makes those whole sections boring. Sure, the atmosphere and sound design was great but they had way too many cheap, loud jumpscares and. like i said, no threat.
They just wanted to make some "cool" and "hip" transitions from location to location because they were:
a) too lazy to make transitions that actually make sense
b) trying to be cool and surprising with this as much as they could
