The clocks in-game actually work in the game, anyone tested this?
I couldn't help but notice that the time is 9 in the second last school segment, and on the very last segment it's 8. I was thinking but i really doubt this is the case...

If you "hide" and just wait 1 hour in the kitchen so the clock goes from 8 to 9, does this mean we avoid all the bad stuff that happened? Thus save everyone. :D

I don't have time to sit and wait for an whole hour but would be a weird easter egg/hidden ending if this actually worked. I mean the clock does work perfectly, the second and minute pointers work, so the time is ticking.

Yeah, the school segments are told in reverse order, Memento-style, and the clocks reflects the time accurately, at least at the start of each segment. But it is also true that if you hang out long enough time passes and it doesnt make much sense. :)

As Mat said, they do work and the school parts are in reverse order.

At first I didn't notice this but my younger sister is a little more observational than I am, and when she was playing it she noticed that. Each and every time she appeared in the school, the time was just a little earlier, getting closer to the moment when that priest catches you and Jessica in the school. I thought that was really cool.

(I don't have the game on my steam profile because I own it on the Xbox one if you're wondering)

I'm a bit late to the party on this, but I just noticed some clocks on the wall on the last "level" (to avoid spoilers), and watched as the time does indeed pass on them.

On mine, it was 4:25AM when I noticed. I actually saw a reddit post from someone who noticed a working clock on the way in, and said it was something like 9:10PM. So, assuming this is the case, this actually seems to be about the amount of time that has passed in my playthrough as well, I have about 4 hours on the video clock (I held it up *most* of the time), and then give or take some events that happen in game that could feasibly cost a few hours, I think it's totally plausible they 100% work.

It blows my mind to think about this little tiny detail that almost no one has noticed based on the lack of Google hits, yet, is incredible. It's just another example of how the devs went above and beyond on this game to make it one of the most immersive I've ever played.

I legitimately believe Outlast is a rare masterpiece.
