Rain of blood is real OR can camcorder hallucinate as well?
I mean all the back-in-school hallucinations give rubbish recordings because thats where the "EMP of Holy Power" signal is the strongest. Which explains the hallucinations in the 1st place.

All other recordings seems to work just fine. I don't care how insane Blake is, a digitally recorded video can't make him hallucinate the same thing when he watches them later on. Most of them are believable things you would see in a town full of mad men. I can even explain the birds dying and locust swarm as smaller creature's reaction to the signals but rain of blood? How do you explain that?

Oh, OR MAYBE. The developers are being inconsistent. Hallucinations about school can't be recorded. But it doesn't apply to rain of blood because they forgot.

I think it may be red mercury in the rain ))
Prett May 3, 2017 @ 5:55am
Who's to say he didn't hallucinate what's on the camera as well?
I did also hear of a theory to do with mercury ^^

I'll be very disappointed with that explaination. Why is Blood Rain Hallucination fine on the camera but school hallucination has to go..

Sure. I'm happy to get a theory of some sort. One that doesn't say red rain = hallucination. But red mercury? Do share more.

In the intro Lynn told Blake that 'Jane Doe' had a big concentration of mercury in her blood which means she used to be living near some factory.

Since when mercury can provoke a red rain?
Batman May 3, 2017 @ 6:40am
Hmm.. Well, "red mercury" according to wikipedia was fictional to begin with. And it hasn't been used to make rain red in any of its fictional usage. Which dates from 1966 to 2014.

Anyway, I'm not really convinced but there isn't a better theory right now. So, thanks.

SPOILER

Im starting to think that the microwave tower that causes the hallucinations also affects the weather somehow. Remember the storm at the end of the game? That storm was real for sure.
Maybe somehow the microwave tower also affects rain.

Well, that must be quite an effect to affect the color too. Better than nothing I guess, red mercury is still a better theory though. And the most likely theory is that the developers forgot about the red rain and just assumed the recorded hallucinations only included the ones in school. Or just decided that its not worth their time to retify the rain color for replays.

Although it is fictional IRL, to me it's quite possible that in the Outlast universe red mercury could have been invented by some evil organization. Murkoff Corp. for example ))

Maybe this

I don't know if there are explanations for everything that happened or if he was still hallucinating despite the camera recordings, but trying to distinguish what's real from what isn't seems to be a major part of the game

To be honest, this version looks kinda random to Outlast 2 because presence of such plant near the scene is a total coincidence, that makes no sense in this pretty intricate story.

Now thats some interesting theories. I guess we'll learn more later on when a DLC or something comes up.

2 things popular in games these days are ambiguious stories to arouse interest and restriction on saves as a cheap way to make gameplay challenging. Both of which we can see in this game.

How is thorough interest in the story line hating?
Just because you settle for "meh, I guess the game unraveled somewhat like that" doesn't mean the rest of us can't discuss and dig around for further explanation.
