I guess it is because the flashbacks/nightmares/hallucinations of the school are not real.

Kinda like the saying that you can't read a clock in a dream or turn a light on/off in a dream. Maybe like that you can't record/rewatch something on a camera in those. I mean he isn't really there. So he can't record that stuff and watch it when back in the 'real world'.

What I was hoping for was one of the videos to have a surprise in them... everyone was blank until you get this one and as you watch it... it flashes something scary... but that didnt happen

Play them backwards in a video editing software ( or look it up on youtube )

I did notice a voice that seemed to be speaking in reverse. However, I'm not sure how to play videos in reverse recorded (for example) in Geforce Experience.

Oh you need a video editing software to reverse the clips you record, like sony vegas or premiere, I think movie maker can do it too no idea, but the reversed versions are already on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kksZDqz3KnM

Aaaw, it sucks you can't play them backwards in game. Thanks for info though! :)
